Sterling - Euro exchange

Old news I know but I just checked the Sterling - Euro exchange ...
For eg. £320 you get 303.26 on Marks & Sparks Travel Money!
(rate is 1.0552)

Anywhere else with a better rate (including fees)? Thanks in advance

Yes, Credit Cards all incur a cash transaction charge, use your NW Debit Card, no charges.

Do what we did when we went to Florida - load up the card with money before you go and then use the card to pay for all meals, etc. Keep some cash for drinks and snacks. There are no charges this way.

load up the card? how do you mean - have money in the bank basically isn't it?

or do you mean those PAYG type of charge credit cards - never used them before.

Just pay a lump sum to the credit card before you go - say £500 - and then you just use it as normal, keeping your receipts as you go. For meals and shopping, it means not having to carry a lot of cash with you and you get the bank rate for each day, which is normally better than the tourist rate.

I cannot understand why you would need to " load it up before you go ", surely you can just pay it off in full on your return, or better still use a Debit Card.

It's just a way of keeping track of what you are spending. If you have the money beforehand, paying it to a credit card before you spend it is a way of making sure the bill is not "forgotten" - it is only an idea:roll:

Fair enough, it still seems a bit daft to me, I can always " remember " how much I have spent, it is all clearly laid out on my statement each month.;-)

So do we normally, but for some people, the temptation not to clear a credit card bill when it comes in is strong. This way, we know it's paid upfront. Each to their own though.

I think it's down everywhere but i usually check:
    comparetravelmoney.com/
You might get a better rate taking one of the companies such as Crown Currency Exchange and ordering for a few months away. But it's a risk and i've never done it.

Was listening to R4 news this eve. They mentioned that an well known American market player had said that he thought everyone should sell Sterling. Dont know when he was supposed to havde said it or whether that had had an effect.
