You dont understand what the OP is talking about, she means the 2nd wave of the pandemic which will more than likely be tamiflu resistant and a LOT more deadly.

Which is what the OP is saying, nurses, GP's, NHS staff have been put on alert from September for a 2nd deadly wave, hopefully it wont happen but all the indications look like it will. Same reason that they are planning to innoculate everyone in the UK, they are scared of it, it's mutating and looking to be quite nasty. The 1918 flu had 3 waves, each one more deadly.
#14
wow, im scared now :(

is this deadly for everyone or only if you have underlying medical conditions????

Is it mutating? Or is there only a chance it will mutate, which is pretty much the same for all viruses??? Bloody scaremongering......... :whistling:

Hooray!!!!!!!!!! Common sense. I am a qualified nurse, I don't work at the mo having 3 young kids, however people in the profession, don't just go blurting stuff like this out, I mean one supposed friend of a friend who was nurse was on here saying all medical professionals had talks on mass burial sites, what a load of crap. I still talk to my colleagues from past times........
Right to be cautious, but without fear you cannot control people call me cynical, there is a lot to be swept under the carpet at the moment, what with the war and that......

i saw that the other day MASS BURIAL SITES i was like WTF:roll:

To people who actually know stuff, is it better to be outdoors as much as possible right now in the hope of catching it when it's warm and when I'm healthy and should be fairly capable of pwning the nuts off the little sods and gaining a natural immunity to Round 2 of the disease, or should I just become a recluse for the remainder of the year?

If it hybridises with another virus to give the sort that will cause a 1918 style pandemic, then catching the present strain now won't give you immunity.

Getting it now ( don't lurk outside schools BTW) would give you partial immunity to it if it is just the 'normal' mutations that we see in seasonal flu.

Just go about your everyday life.:-D

It's a difficult question. Yes if you catch it now you will have 'some' immunity but how much depends on how much it may mutate (if at all). Also it is already a dangerous infection so deliberately catching it now could give you or anyone you know all sorts of problems. The only advice really is just carry on your normal life but make sure that cleanliness is top of your priorities. DONT touch your face at all when you are out, wash your hands frequently and especially when you have been out, wash them before you touch anything as soon as you come in the house. Get plenty of exercise, eat plenty of freshly prepared food with as many fresh vegetables as you can.

I'm not sure. Business has been lousy for all pubs around here since the smoking ban. It's just been a downward spiral of decreasing customer bases and increasing prices to compensate for it, then decreasing customers again because of the higher prices since. I've already lost my previous local (Scruffy's, may you rest in peace, and sorry about all the cartoons we drew) and another pub nearby. I guess we're all just at the wrong end of Princes Street, or something, but I don't see the Bally reopening.

It's a shame, because there's somethng magic about a pub where a lock-in results in the unlocking of a secret cupboard with a stash of ash trays in it that get handed out to everyone. The ban can suck it.

'Tis. Lot of fun times in that place. I feel pretty bad about the fireman who died, too. Ewan Williamson. I'm passing by tonight, I'll leave a card out as a mark of respect for his family.

(waiting to be publicly flogged for my opinion)

i wrote the other day about mass burial sites.

i wasn't told about this by a friend of a friend, or by a buddy down the pub, but by my 50 year old sister who has worked in the NHS for decades.

to be honest, given the potential scale of this issue, i'd be more worried if the NHS, councils, emergency services WEREN'T considering these factors. if just 5% of the populus were stricken by this illness, never mind dying from it, it could cause chaos to a lot of our infrastructure and services.

after all, our government, love them or hate them, ARE spending a not-inconsiderable sum on vaccines/treatments etc.

i hope to god that it's all being blown out of proportion.

i've seen my fair share of death in the work i do and don't particularly want to see any more.

but i think to sit with your head in the sand and not take reasonable, simple precautions is foolish in this case.

just heard on bbc news that a six year old girl has died of this in london.

my kids are 8 and 10.

i don't believe in scaremongering but i think people are too flippant about this virus.

No you shouldn't be flippant and everyone should be aware of the symptoms and what to do if they think they have swine flu. It is sweeping through my children's school and other schools in the area now and its shocking how many parents don't bother to read the literature sent home and have no idea and also some of the posts on here about it. If you are concerned there is plenty of info around

I work in the NHS and they have everything in place to deal with this but no mention of mass burials
