Some idiot has just stolen my phone :(

Bloody thing wasn't insured either so I'm gutted & I don't know what to do now.

My fault. I got distracted by my lil man & put it down on the counter as I was paying in a shop. Noticed like 5 mins later & went back. There were only 2 other people in there so they obviously took it. When I went back in the shop, 1 of them had already left (they were together) and the other left straight after.

Gutted! :(

Subway. They said they'd check the cctv & get back to me:-(

First thing to do is to call your network and get the IMEI banned, all networks in the UK use the same database so it will at least make the phone useless to them unless in the UK.

Subway Tend to have great CCTV especially pointing straight at the counter...I was attacked in one a couple of months back by some thug...The CCTV footage got a great pic of the guy and he was caught. So fingers crossed for you. I would however report straight to police and phone company im sure those phones can be shut down remotely if you have the seriel number, I know its not much consolation but might stop them from using it

Really easy to get distracted when you got children,so don't blame yourself.
#13
I get free insurance with my bank account but I hadn't got round to updating my details for the iphone.

I rang them a little while ago but the insurance doesn't commence for 21 days so that doesn't help

Yeah that's what I thought. My bf told me not to report and to just cancel the sim card. Said I should claim it on the insurance in a month or so.

I know it's wrong but I just don't know what to do!
#19
was it on contract......contact your bank as it may still be covereed if you can prove it was in your posession somehow......long shot but worth a try especially if you paid for it with a card of some sort

I don't think it was the staff to be honest because they were really nice. They were the ones that told me to come into the shop and leave my details whilst I was turning over the car like a mad woman

Yeah it's on contract. I pay £45 a month which guts me even more. Paid with my credit card.

I meant say I've lost it and order a new one. Would they not then cancel the old one?

someone stole my phone once and they called a number, I called orange and asked for any numbers called after that time they gave me the number I called it and it was the friend of the person who stole it, that was enought evidence to frighten the boy and he told me who had called him, so we did get out phone back posted 1st class recorded

ohhhhh thats a good idea.
I was mugged once and they got my nokia 3310 i'd only bought it that afternoon. Got back home and the girl rang me which kinda freaked me out a bit. Anyway my friend saw the 2 people who mugged me the next afternon they got on her bus. Big police chace and they were caught. Date set fro trial etc..... heard nothing from court week of trial and so i rang up and was told the defendant was deceased. She was only 19 at the time and died of a heroin overdose  At the time she said she was so high on drugs she thought it was her bag that i ahd stolen :whistling:
Waste of a life.... and my phone... never did get it back or receive the police compensation thing

My boss's Subway has about 5 CCTV camera's in it, so if the one you went into is the same, it would've been caught on tape.

?

check the details of your credit card suppliere you may be covered for theft with it as most banks offer some kind of insurance on cc purchases

check your small print or contact your issuer

you will need a police crime number tho

Well if one of them had swiped it, they are not likely to be nasty to you are they? If anything they are more likely to be overly helpful IMO.

I can't imagine losing a £400 phone, I guard my £30 phone like my life depends on it. lol

If the suspected customers in the shop did not pay by cash, then the electronic till system will record their card details for their respective transactions.

If you are going to report the incident to the Police, I would suggest asking the Shop Manager to record the details of the customers now before the records are sent to their head office computer system (unless they have already been transferred & removed overnight).

The names & card details (& hence addresses) of the card holders may be important information to retain if court proceedings are necessary.

Good luck.

They'll cancel the sim but not the contract, they'll just send you a new sim and tell you to buy a sim free phone to put it in. Having your phone stolen isn't grounds to get the contract ended, sorry....

lol the truth comes out :w00t: HAHAHA

The worst thing about this is that you will have to pay the remainder of your contract for a possible 20 months if you are on the 24 month contract!! With no phone.

And even if you had phone insurance, most of them would not cover you because u left it unatended.

Life deals yet another shi ttty blow :(

Problem with mobile phone theft, if one is just lying around, the most unlikely people will pinch it. They possibly have never stolen anything in their life before now.

So their faces may not be known to the police if they see them on cctv. Who would be dumb enough to pinch it in front of cameras anyway I dont know.
