#3
Theres a couple of posts by dinosteveus saying hes leaving!
#4
why ?? has Admin annoyed him ? have the mods been picking on him again ? think we should all give him a big hug !! hehe
#5
He doesn't agree with HUKD policy on dealing with certain stuff.

He might start hotukdinodeals.com.
#6
We all love you Dino, don't go, Joshanna will give you some of her Birthday cake.
#7
Don't leave Steve.

What are the disagreements?
#9
AM999

He might start hotukdinodeals.com.

That made me laugh
#10
Is Paul, Admin?
#11
ok i think im on both sides, ok dino wants something to be done on this site but on the other hand what can Paul (hukd) etc do ?

Its just one of these things that has happend and the only thing for this and everyone to settle down is to close the "for sale or trade" forum down for a bit and wait a while.
Start it back up later and hope scammers have just went away this has only started happening in the past few weeks.

I say close it down for a break and re-open with a drinks night and mini sausages lol

SHeeeeeesh this place used to be such a lovely neighbourhood lol

Is Paul, Admin?

Yeh i think so, iv heard his name being brought up in the forums
#14
So it's his fault Dino is leaving.

Dino, do a coup, I'm with you.
#15
Yeh whats stopping someone putting a link to a website they have made up and obtaining credit card details when you type them in thinking you have bought that item
thats a good point on that forum.
#16
I've pm'd a mod, lets see what they say.
#17
Says it not there fault.
#18
Hold on, we need to calm down :)
We can still contact steve via ebay, i think, possibly spam his ebay inbox with messages of missing him so much hes left with no choice but to come back
#19
Tell him we started him a thread of his own to asking him not to leave.
#20
This is the 3rd thread where people have asked him not to leave, he knows hes wanted :)
#21
Where are the other 2

Steve (dino) has left HUKD before, following an issue with admin. He did something that he thought would benefit HUKD members (which i shall not go into),but admin did not agree with his method,so he quit. This disagreement was resolved and he returned, which i was glad to see as he is a real asset to this site.Let's hope that this particular issue can be resolved and that steve returns to be the helpful person that he is and the scourge of the scammers that have infiltrated our forums.I am not blaming admin as his hands may be tied, but i hope something for the better might materialise from this.I despise the fact that the scammers have caused a rift between people who only have the common good at heart.:-(
#23
Please share what happened before, at least by pm.
#24
The only outcome from this situation at the moment is that the scammers are winning.

I don't think admin or mods etc can be blamed. It must be so hard to maintain a succesful For Sale or trade section and scamming will probably never be completely erradicated - it happens on ebay all the time!
#25
Scamming happens on every site, where there's anything for sale, there will be vultures to abuse it. Even sites with so many different systems set him to remove scammers, keep personal details, insurance etc - like Ebay, you still get scammerrs, and they still find a way around it.

It is up to each individual to verify the details they have and decide if the chance of a scam, is worth the risk of trading online instead of buying new, or in person.

I don't see how the admin here could do anything different than they do, and to me it just seems very severe that someone would leave a community that they are part of over a disagreement about this. Everyone should be working together not breaking apart!
#26
Admin, Paul, you should be grateful to people like Dino.
#27
Lets make Emma the new Admin.
#28
i think this is going to lead to the closure of the For sale or for sale thread on HOT uk deals. we love dino (just metaphorically, not in an intimate way) please come back!!! pls?. he's probably looking at these posts right now and so full of himself.

I totally agree CWhatley...scammers are everyehere...it's is up to the individual to take allthe necessary precautions before proceeding with a purchase....that's why I would never buy from someone on here who has very few posts and probably nothing in the way of reputation.

If Dino has the full details of clip then it's up to the two members who were scammed to PM or email Dino in private if they want that information.
#30
I agree currychops 100%
#31
The For Sale thread is the main reason i come to this site. Please dont get rid of it :( There have been no scams happening in the recent threads were the new measuers of verifying details with mods has been in place.
#32
OK, i've no idea WTF has happened, nor the inclination to find out and wade through all the posts, but i will say Dino is a valued and important member of the community. As a community there will be differences of opinions, someone will be right, the other put-out consequentlty.

I'm not read it as i say, so i am not gonna say who is right, or wrong, but for to Dino to say he is off, must be bad, cos the lad spends a lot of time here, helps out, and does a lot of sterling work.

I'd be sad to see Dino leave, it would be a crying shame, but it's his call. He know's he's welcome here in the main i hope.

Go the lad, and you'll be missed, stay a while, but don't post, see if stuff changes, i've done that on forums before, when i've had enough, some haven't changed and i've left, some have, and i've stayed. Just don't be hasty

Thanks for the kind words everybody but my mind is made up. I'll explain a few things first as I think you all deserve to know.

A few months ago I contacted Lucy at Aria on 'Lucy's Lair Forum' after my 'Rush Hour' basket prices had reverted back to the original price, when the Rush Hour had finished and I went to pay. I asked her what the problem was and if it could be resolved. She sorted it out and I got the items I put in the basket at the correct price.
After chatting to her for quite a while I explained that I'd spent all day posting the Rush Hour deals on HUKD as do other members, and I asked her if there any chance of some kind of 'discount' or something for HUKD members who buy using the link from HUKD? She said she's look into it. I contacted Paul (Admin) about this and he wrongly thought I'd contacted her on behalf of HUKD. He was not a happy chappy.
Anyway, on the next 'Rush Hour' Admin told me not to post all the deals as they come up, he said people can click on the link themselves. Yea right, that post soon hit page two without any bumps etc. Not the last Rush Hour but the one before Lucy PM'd me and apologised for not getting back to me but they have been busy with a new website. As way of an apology she wanted to send me a FREE remote control Helicopter. I contacted Paul and asked him if it could be given away on the next Rush Hour post, to say the fourth poster or something. He was not interested, he just said tell her to contact him if they wanted to do a 'promotion' on HUKD.

Then todays problem with the Trench Coat post where the deal went straight to some bodies account with their Credit Card details etc. I asked Ray to contact that Lady on behalf of HUKD, but he wouldn't. I then found her number on the E/R and asked Ray to phone her, he said contact Paul and his reply was basically NO. In the meantime I had emailed this Lady and explained the problem with that website. She replied about an hour later saying her Card had been cancelled and the problem was sorted. She was very grateful for the 'heads up' on the problem. Only one other person contacted her but it was 'just' a poster, not a Mod or Admin. The impression I got from Ray and Paul was as long as HUKD are not to blame it's OK. That post could have cost that poor Lady a lot of money and a great deal of grief.

All the recent scammers that have been on the FS / FT board and who helps the 'victims'? Me and maybe a few other posters (of which I'm extremely grateful). The Mods ( I have a lot of respect for Emma, Edi, Cat, Ducky, Mike and Andy) just put a 'disclaimer' type post in and thinks that will solve all problems. The Emo scam post was pulled, why? That was the same guy, clip. I'm sure they could do more.

My 2,000th post that I posted, who are the two HUKD noticeable non posters on that thread? The two mentioned above.
I guess, whilst I'm helping members with Ebay, Paypal or scammer problems I'm not helping to bring in any money for HUKD. 'Good will' does not pay the server upgrade or whatever.

I get a lot of PM's asking for help but my PM box gets full very quickly, I asked Paul if the capacity could be increased, he said no and told me to download the PM's, I couldn't and I did not really understand what he meant. Emma tried to help but I was still unable to download them so I registered another account (Dinosteveus PM) and forwared all my emails to that account. That is now full and so is this one.. I wanted to keep the PM's so I could refer back to a posters problem later on if they wanted some more advice.

I'm just 'some' guy who makes a living selling and in my spare time I wanted to help people on here, for free.

Anyway, sorry it's a long post but at least it's my last.

Well, i for one shall miss you :-(

Yeh i know for a fact Dino is reading these posts, if he was on here every single day before then its going to be very very hard to not stop himself having a wee sneaky paek to see whats happening ;-)

I for one want him to come back as he was a guid lad and a friend but if he wants to stay away then his call,
Altho i would say to him and others is that we all may have a soap box to stand up on and air our views but at the end of the day its the sole responsibilty of the buyer to find out everything he/she can about the seller.

This is no fault of H.U.K.D or Dino, everyone has been made aware of whats been happening due to scammers and all agree something must be done but to be honest no one can do anything on open forums but only view their comments of what we think is suitable.

HUKD have done everything they could as in setting up a list of do's when someone has entered a "for sale" item which i think was a good idea, no one can get rid of scammers this is something thats not going to go away but what we can do is help people before someone makes a decision and sends a payment.
We can give advice and guidance to whether we think things ar legit or false, all mods will join in, Admin will cast his view if its asked for, all of us will help if required.
Buyers must be aware that we are all here to help and dont want anyone out of pocket, there is always someone on here everyday that has a very good rep (incluing mods) so dont be afraid to ask questions first, remember its your own money your spending and think about how you would feel if the worst came off.

Apart from all that were a communion for the best deals in the Uk and were all here to help and share our views, lets now get on with what we do best and everyone keep one eye on the deals section and one eye on the for sale section from now on.

ooohhh dino... you will be missed but i can totally understand why you're leaving
#37
As i've said before steve,i will miss your posts as will many others.Take care out there and remember you will always be welcome back at any time in the future.:friends:
#38
It is sad. That's all I can say about the whole story.
As I said in the other thread - I think that Steve is one of the most valuable members of HUKD. And it is really sad to see him going.

Anyway, Steve, I wish you good luck and hope we'll stay in touch. I'll send you my email via eBay.
#39
I have read your post Dino and fully agree, i thought it was outstanding what you have done the last few weeks helping track down scammers. And you get no real credit for it.

Do good things and good things will happen. All the best Steve

That's a fair explanation and quite a damning comment on folks, i would hope they'd take their own "right to reply"; not just to defend themselves, but perhaps explain what happened, and why they took the actions, or non actions they did.

If all above is true, that's sad, shocking and quite staggering to be blunt.

There for the grace of God and all; i know i'd like to be told had i posted my personal details on here, or elsewhere......

All the best Steve
