Storage suggestions needed!

I have about 30 scarves and about 50 handbags...whats the best way to store them?

The scarves are currently in 3 carrier bags-a real pain. I had my handbags hung on a coat stand to try and keep them tidy but it took up lots of room and looked pretty messy. They're mostly vintage so all shapes and sizes.

Thanks for any (sensible) suggestions! No suggesting I bin them boys!

i keep belts & scarfs on hooks on the inside of my wardrobe doors

and what about plastic tubs for the bags??? you could put them ontop of the wardrobe etc without them becoming dusty :)

All my scarves are quite bulky so I don't think the wardrobe doors would close if I kept them there! Good idea though, I might do that with my necklaces!

As for the boxes, I was thinking about something like that...they;re so pretty though i wish I could keep them out somehow.

Good idea, I will look into this if the bulk of them won't affect how many I can hang.

I love the style of those! Not big enough for what I'm after but I could put my craft and art supplies in those...hmmm...lol!

I didn't ask where I could dispose of my items. As I have no intention of getting rid of them-bin, charity or otherwise your comment isn't relevant to me.

Ooh thats a cool website! I like some of their options! My chest of drawers is right behind my bedroom door so that would restrict my door opening, but I could have a reshuffle...

haha! I like it! And yes they're all faves *sigh* I would be able to select a few to have out though and perhaps draw up a rota system? lol!

Hi H_K :)
How about folding all of the scarves neatly and wrapping them in some tissue paper and large sealable foodbags, you can label them on the outside so you don't have to open them till they are needed. They wont discolour over time if they are wrapped up.

Wow, that's a pretty neat idea! I'm pretty disorganised as it is so I have visions of me not putting them back if I change my mind about the colour etc! But this could inspire me to be more organised. I really like that Idea, then I can keep them in the storage boxes already suggested and pick and choose which I'd like.....hmm..you've got me thinking there! Good idea! rep!

ooh-er missus!

It's not having too many It's having a varied selection for whatever may arise!! I have no 2 scarves or handbags the same, and I'm still buying more because I like them!

I don't smoke, go out excessively or do drugs nor do I buy weekly magazines etc, i spend my money on handbags, scarves, shoes and jewellery! Lasts much longer too!

mine are stored in a hanging shoe organiser in the wardrobe similar to this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Heavy-Duty-Hanging-Wardrobe-Organiser/dp/B000LFGAF8
personally if I had beautiful vintage handbags I would make a feature wall out of them by buying equally beautiful hooks to hang them on (bombay duck http://www.bombayduck.co.uk/index.php?page=shop.browse&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1 are fantastic) possibly the wall behind your bed

Aww I have saved that site to my favourites, it's lovely!! Some gorgeous bits on there certainly. I can't put anything on the walls at the moment as the bungalow is about to go up for sale, but I like the idea of having them hanging... Like I say, have saved to favourites, might be an addition to my new bedroom!

I wish they made handbags as gorgeous as they used to, if they do now they do en masse so everyone has one! Its like primark land! That's what got me onto vintage-I wanted to have something different!

the handbags i'd put in large clear plastic containers.. the sort you'd roll under a bed, shallow so you can see them all.

The scarves really i'd wanna hang, would be a shame to have to fold them as then it wouldnt be so easy to choose which you wanted to wear.
