What are those machines called that are used to flatten sand on driveways about to have block weave paving laid.

Our next door neighbours have the builders in and my 4 yr old is fascinated by it all. But he came running in and said 'daddy they are using a machine to flatten the sand, whats it called', I know it but I cant for the life of me think what it is......doh!

Looks a bit like a lawn mower, with a flat plate metal plate on the bottom

Ahhh its OK, googled it from 'whacker packer'.....its official name is 'A plate compactor' :giggle:
