Strange techy question - Sky related
Having Sky multiroom installed tomorrow and I understand that I have to have my phoneline plugged into it at all times. This is a bit of a problem due to where my phone connector is.
Is there such a thing which is like a "homeplug" but instead of Ethernet sends the phone line?
Would be much easier than getting cable all over the place
Cheers

search around and I don't know if this type of product actually works as intended I just guessed
However, dont fret. The sky monkey that did mine, just plugged an extension cable and removed it when he left. Ive heard no rumblings about it - and it was done in August last year.
The Engineers themselves can't do it however ;).

I did the same with my 'main' box, that's been over a year with no problems, it just seemed that they were more insistent with the multiroom box. I'll probably leave it until they send me a letter about it (if they do) and maybe buy one of those extenders then. Unless the guy tomorrow has some bright idea

Just tell him you have one on order. I expected a call at some point (neither boxes have been connected since install) but its never happened. I did expect them to check on the multi box, purely 'cos it could be in next doors house! X)

I know a few people who this has happened to.
When the bloke come to put it in he might demand it being connected to the phone socket and the box before they leave, they staple it to the skirting board, if you refuse they can just say they will not do the install .
The best thing to do is phone sky and ask them .
So when you give you full package HD multi-room spare card and box to your neighbour, you dont think that Sky will be a little bit miffed?

Whilst they can phone and tell you to plug the box into the phone, the last thing you want to do is call them.
Just get a flying lead and plug it in every so often.
Sounds fine to me, what I would have done eventually I suppose. It's a proper Sky van too, first time I've known one to do an install. My initial install, and everybody I know who's has one, has been done by a local independent.

I'm glad you described him as a "bloke" and not a "sky engineer"!

This guy would struggle to be called an 'engineer' in any field to be honest. Nice bloke though
What do you mean 'sync' rate?
