Hey folks

Anyone know what the strongest over the counter paracetemol is? I got some good ones prescribed to me when I had my finger operated on but can't for the life of me remember what they were called. Anyone know?

It'll be useful for today, the weekend and most of next week probably, as I expect I'll still be in pain by then :P

The ones I was after was co-codamols :D Thanks for the help guys.
Cheers!

Would that be Panadeine Co? I think it has codeine in it, if I remember correctly.

I used Diclofenac after my operation and found it more effective, was prescribed but is now available over the counter

Doesn't ring a bell no...

No I don't think it was that either... It's really annoying me too that I can't remember it. It might not be the strongest pain-killers, but certainly plenty strong lol.

Thanks for the input guys, any other ideas?

If all else fails, I'll take some Panadols, but hoping someone will jog my memory for me. For all I know, they're still sitting in the cupboard somewhere at home, but still curious for now

Jackpot! Co-codamol, that's the one. I was thinking of all sorts of names, and wondering which medication it was lol.

Many thanks, I have been satisfied :D

co codomal makes me sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeepy

i think diclofenac are stronger though, and codidramol too

the strongest you can buy is paramol, they are a combination of paracetamol and dyhydracodiene, if the pain is still bad you can take ibuprofen with them. Dyhydracodiene is an opiate and this is enhanced by the effects of paracetamol making it stronger than most over the counter preperations, i would take some arnica tablets too which will help healing
#12
codiene phosphate is good as well

Thanks for the advice folks :) I'll keep it in mind. Co-cods worked pretty well last time though, and I doubt the pain will be any worse than before, so sweet.

Thanks again.

No it ain't. Panadol is paracetamol, but more expensive because it's sold by a pharma company. It's identical and cheaper to buy generic paracetamol.

I am pretty sure that Diclofenic is a anti inflammatory so does not always help with normal pain relief

Don't forget mate the ones normally prescribed are 30mg of codeine but the ones you buy are 8mg. As stated above paramol are the strongest available.

Was it definitely co-CODamol, because I take co-DYDRamol, which are similar but not quite the same. co-dydramol are slightly stronger, not sure if you can get them over the counter, I get mine from gp

yes it does kill pain, as well has having an antiinflammatory effect.

Codeine is stronger than Diclofenac, which is stronger than Inbuprofen, all of which are stronger than paracetamol.

If you get a mixture of the drugs, such as cocodamol, then they are obvioulsy stronger.

They sell stuff over the counter in Amsterdam coffee shops which apparently has pain relieving properties:giggle:

The only extra in panadol is extra caffeine, not pain relief.

Caffeine accelerates your stomach absorption so increases the rate at which the drug is absorbed - in theory.

It's not really a strong pain killer.

And of course the best way to speed up absorption is to purchase the soluble stuff.
