Inflation is low or possibly negative and interest levels for repayments on existing loans are 0%, so not a surprise.

This part made me laugh;

It is the latest blow to students. The Government has already announced financial support for thousands of students starting university this September will be cut. This was because the Government underestimated the numbers that would be eligible for full grants.

It was originally thought a third would be eligible, but around 40 per cent qualified. This left a funding shortfall of around £200 million.

You're telling me, that in a country with something like 300% rise in unemployment or something stupid like that, the government didn't forsee an increase in applicants becoming eligible for full grants as their parents aren't earning?

Glad that part of my life is over and done with!!

does this mean the loans stay the same? or taken completly? sorry if i sound stupid just i might be applying next year and not sure what it means

The article is not particularly good though. I was on the old system but as I understand it, you do not pay off the fees now until you graduate and earn £x blah blah blah. So how a newspaper thinks that a £60 increase paid off over 10+ years is going to have any difference whatsoever is beyond me.
