I ordered a bluray movie from Zavvi, cancelled it like 4 minutes later when the order status had not progressed.

I requested a cancellation, then 10minutes later, noticed it had been removed, I requested another cancellation only to receive an email saying:

Thanks for your request. Unfortunately it has not been possible to cancel your item(s) as it is being prepared for dispatch.

I cancelled so soon after ordering!

Surely they can't do this, I think it said "awaiting stock pick" when I cancelled.

I just don't think they want me to cancel. Now I'll have to bear the costs of returing as I have already ordered via Amazon and that order is being processed.

Any ideas?

Other websites do this not just Zavvi. As shybeauty has said, refuse delivery and no cost to you to return it. If any doubts, call them in the morning to reiterate you want it cancelled.

if it needs to be signed for then refuse, if it doesnt then he will just put it in your postbox so no chance to refuse.. why did you order and then cancel straight away, maybe you shoud have not ordered till 100% sure.. lesson learnt i say

Wow, stupid Zavvi for not progressing an order for 4 whole minutes, shame on them.
I'll never deal with them again now.

I think your missing something jumping
the op is stating that they tried to cancel whilst the order had not been progressed, then Zavvi cancelled his cancellation and progressed the order.
Whatever the op bought they found cheaper at amazon, purchased at amazon then tried to cancel, they did not cancel because it hadn't progressed in 4 minutes. For one so **** I thought you would have picked up on the point or are you just "jumping" in again.

woah woah guys!!!!

I read reviews afterwards, and saw how slow delivery was. I have the Amazon and decided to order from there cos' I'll receive it Friday and with Zavvi, I thought it'll take ages.
I thought they were reputeable before as they had stores, etc opened.


What I'm trying to say is that I should have been allowed to cancel a few minutes later, and plus it was like 11pm, surely they don'r dispatch 24/7. And my cancellation was refused! This is what is annoying me.

Yeah GREAT THEY PROGRESSED MY ORDER SO QUICKLY after cancellation, but who knows how long it will take in "awaiting dispatch", I have read people having this status for a week!!!!

I ordered a rechargable battery for wii remote, it was "in stock" when i ordered but changed to out of stock a week later and never came back in till now. I actually used the Zavvi voucher on it from HUKD xmas comp last year.

Well I've read the post again and again and I suppose you could read it that way also.
Doesn't mean I went "jumping" in as it can also be interpreted the way I did.

Freepost? How do I get that? I don't see why the cancel button was there if It wasn't possible for my order to be cancelled. If I can post it back free of charge I will! But I really cba otherwise. I don't care if it'll just be £1-£2 it's just principle.

Their customer service haven't even replied to me as of yet

If that is so, i will definitely do that! I'm just worried in case they turn around and say they haven't received it!

Their FAQ make it seem as though its not free returns:

When you return your item please remember to ask the Post Office for a receipt which you should keep as proof of sending until you have received your replacement or your refund.

zavvi.com can only refund postage costs if we have sent you the wrong item or if the item is faulty. We cannot be held responsible for non-delivery of returned goods.

zavvi.com will replace any faulty items with the same title, or if the title is no longer available, will refund the original card used to make the purchase. Our returns policy is valid for 28 days from receipt of goods.

Why would they mention refund of postage if it is freepost...:-s

The Post Office receipt is just a free certificate of posting proving that you did indeed post the item back to them. I had the same thing as you, I ordered a game from them and for 1 week it was in my account as temporarily out of stock; I bought it from another store and tried to cancel my Zavvi order which then showed as being processed/couldn't cancel. I just e-mailed them for a return address and they gave me a freepost one. This was in November 2010.

I am going to contact Zavvi with this thread and ask HUKD admin for your ip. They will link the order to the IP and if you try to scam them will send round some heavies to remove your house :D

lol, nah, I wouldn't do that anyway! I just said that cos' I'm really annoyed!

I was either gonna return it or sell it, but I doubt I'd get make any profit due to postage.

Go to order history, view your order, at the top under 'Actions' there should be a 'Query' button, next page 'Returns and Refunds' then click on 'Not found the answer you're looking for?' and this is the page to e-mail them.

OK, cool cos' emailed them last night using this method and they haven't responded yet. I'll wait until i receive the bluray and then do this.
