Subways Sub of The Day back to £2.19

Went to subway today and bought a SOTD Chicken Tikka Footlong. Got to the checkout and it totalled £4.19. It is usually £3.99 or £1.99 for 6-inch. I'm wondering if this is nationwide or only selected franchises.

I remember there was a time the price increased, but due to negative feedback and competition from outlets such as Greggs and McDonalds the price returned to £1.99

Will SOTD never be at the delicious price of £1.99 again?

Prices vary store to store.

Central Nottingham's price for say, a cookie was 59p.
The one near my house before it closed last month was 39p!

The stupid people are the ones paying £4.19 for a sandwich.

I've found some city centre stores charge 20p extra if you want it heated, they told me hot sandwiches get them charged more by the council, but I think that was BS if you're stupid enough to have to work in a Subway I don't think you'd understand business tax brackets.

The staff are correct, although it has nothing to do with the council. VAT has to be charged on hot/toasted/eat in food, but not on food that is cold and eaten off the premises. The cost of the VAT to the store is a lot more than the 30p (in most cases) that is passed directly to the customer, in fact the stores make more money by selling you the cold Sub at the cheaper price!

As for Sub of the Day, it is now permanently moving away from £1.99 for the simple reason that it is no longer profitable to sell at this price. Every store in the country will have moved to £2.29 or £2.19 by the final quarter of this year.

£2 for a (selected) sandwich ain't profitable? Prefer Greggs anyway

Okay, raise the price, but don't at the same time reduce the quality and assortment of ingredients. My local subway has increase the price to £4.19 for a footlong SOTD. But also removed some veg, including sweetcorn and carrot. Additionally, cucumbers have shrunk in diameter and staff are getting really stingy with meat, and seem to be selling subs that are just filled with vegetables.

I bought a turkey/ham sub of the day yesterday and they used to overlap the meat so I would get 6-8 slices of each piece of meat. Now they are trying to spread out the meat, so they can put less inside the bread. Only 4 slices of each (owing as the meat is already sliced so thinly, this is not right.

i doubt subway ingredient quality could get any lower. Doesnt one of them have more salt than 18 bags of crisps?

How anyone thinks a subway roll is healthy baffles me.
