I've just ordered a DS for my daughter for next Christmas (yes, I've started already, need to pace myself so I can pay for this monthly), and I just wondered what games she would be able to do so I can look out for bargain prices over the year. She'll be almost 5 next Christmas and is quite grown up for her age but not necessarily when it comes to playing computer games if you know what I mean, so would be into High School Musical but think the game would be too hard for her, whereas she would be able to play Dora but is too old for Dora, hope I'm making sense.

Any suggestions would be appreciated as my eldest daughter was 7 when she got her DS so was able to play older games (even though they say 3+).

Thanks in advance.

Go onto amazon.co.uk and browse the games. Peppa pig, disney princess jewels, littlest petshop. Depends if she can read, as most games require reading the screen.

That's a great help thanks, it's hard trying to find one's that they don't think are babyish but getting ones that they won't get frustrated with. I'll write these down and look for bargains throughout the year. Rep given.

She can't read at the moment which is half the problem, but is starting school in September so by Christmas she might be able to read a bit but only limited so I think reading games will be out for the start - any non-reading suggestions are therefore appreciated.

i know my daughter is very clever she was 5 on boxing day but i would say the only ones she can do 100% and not get frustrated is the dora ones and diego and she is very good with cooking mama all those dont really contain too much reading.

My little girl loves I did it mum and postman pat as well as the Dora ones, just got her Peppa Pig too. :)

Go for Dora (mermaids and snow queen), they are very short games but my 5 year old does them without my help. If you get what the above poster suggests, you can try any game u like.

My almost 4 year old loves my ds, he likes cooking mama and mario kart. I bought a load of cheap gameboy games on here a few months ago and he loves them. It means that he doesn't get bored as he has about 20 games. You can pick them up for only a couple of pounds each and he really doesn't care about graphics etc. I have heard peppa pig is good but I will get that for the Wii for him when it comes out,

Thanks for your suggestions everyone, Peppa Pig sounds good as, although she finds the toys too "babyish", she still LOVES watching it on tv, will also look out for the toptoy & card.
