I have no idea what to get. Instead of going somewhere like dreams and just being sold the most expensive thing they have - has anyone got any idea what to buy and/or where to buy one (super king size). I know some places have return policies where they take the bed back if you don't like the bed which is even better. Here is hoping someone knows something about these. Thanks. Fairy.

Before you buy a hard bed, try putting a duvet on top of your present matress and lying on that for a couple of nights.
I have a bad back [arthrits] and the physios say that the new thinking on backs is that a soft matress is much better.
After all, ones back is not straight, it is arched.
Please try this, I have told other people who have bad backs and it has improved their backs a lot. x

Do you know whether it is likely that a memory foam topper would have much the same effect?

We have a sealy orthopaedic bed, it is very firm but very comfortable. Now when we stay elsewhere we miss our bed so much. I suffer from osteoarthitis and to be honest don't know if it actually helps, but do know I ache more if stay any other bed. Highly recommend

Hope this helps

after i fractured my neck the specialist advised me to get an orthapedic bed,we did, spent £600 on it and only had it 2 weeks,it hurt my back and neck more! I'm back to a soft mattress now without any problems

how about a matress topper?

I have a bad back and a firm mattress. When we were on holiday I had a soft mattress and LOTS of problems with my back. Came home and slept on my own mattress and felt a LOT better

If you are not sure whether to go for a soft or a firm mattress, remember, a fim mattresscan be made softer with a memory topper, but a soft mattress will always be soft.

My chiropractor reccommends Dunlopillo orthopedic beds. I have one and it really is fantastic.
