The iPad and iPhone game will be free to download, offering players limited access to the game's three modes. Players can choose to make a one-time payment of £7.99/$9.99 to enable unlimited access to all modes.

Making the game simple to play on mobile devices, Mario runs forward on his own, with players tapping a single finger to jump over obstacles, avoid enemies, perform moves and more.

The game is compatible with devices running iOS 8.0 or later and will be available in English, Japanese, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Russian and traditional Chinese language options.

I never play games on my phone. Was that one good?

Has nintendo high quality on the app. But the cost puts me off wanting to consider this when it comes to android.

£7.99 for an side scrolling runner isn't really a decent price.

Anyone else release a similar game and it would be 79p. £7.20 Nintendo Mario tax, that most people will pay.

Shocking value when you consider the prices of: GTA 3, Vice City, San Andreas, Max Payne, Lumines, Deux Ex etc

This just demonstrates how out of touch Nintendo are with the gaming community . As a runner they would of been better making it free with optional micro transactions , which as much as I hate MT i would rather that than pay this much for a runner

I'll probably buy this when it comes on Google Play. It's an original Mario game, not a rerelease of an earlier game. It'll be Nintendo quality and I assume will be full of content and not just endless pretty much identical levels like cheaper runner games.

I'm glad you can just buy the game instead of having to pay for lives or some rubbish like that. You know exactly where you stand and how much you pay then.

I think everyone needs to actually play this game, its not an endless runner, its a level based game, it just so happens to use one touch to play... Im very interested and I think £7.99 for a game with real depth and development time over the £2.99 rubbish most push out.

I'm keen too. There appears to be some added depth with the 'base' builder option on it and boss battles (which the trailer cut away from). What will be great is the ability to pull off moves that only the pro Mario players regularly crack. Given the timing of the release and how sensitive the stock markets are to moves from Nintendo, this will almost certainly be fantastic. They can't afford a momentum loss just 4 weeks before the next Switch announcement.

Will be interesting to see if they use different game styles for different levels a la Mario Maker, but looking at the trailer, I suspect that we're just going to get New SMB graphics.

Serves them right for goofing around with lame console ideas.

Micro transactions are terrible and the bane of the gaming works! I wanna buy a game and not worry about having to pay extra for more levels or life's.
