Superbowl Coverage

Which channel should I watch? SS1 or BBC1? I only ever watch the superbowl, and as a result forget alot of the rules over the year - which channel explains things best? I watched BBC last year...

Rules aren't that tricky to understand! (Yanks like nice and simple rules!)

You have 4 downs in which to advance the ball to the endzone
moving 10 yards forward resets the number of downs you have.

touchdown is worth 6
conversion is worth 1 (or you can go for 2 points by attempting to score another "touchdown" instead of kicking)
Field goal is worth 3

I agree with Barky, really wish I could see all of the adverts. They pay something like $30million for a 30 second ad oO

Actually il'd say he's more famous for being the anchor on the F1 coverage now.

Maybe thats because i watch the F1 though.

I'll be watching BBC as don't have ss1 but wouldn't watch it on there if there was a choice don't like the presenters. Shame C5 aren't showing it.

I agree with above would like to see the US ads.

Not really! You have Offence, Defence and Special teams (who come on the pitch for kicking)

You can try and run the ball or pass it.

A variety of penaltys which are all pretty obvious... rouging the passer, grabbing the face mask, false starts (all result in a either the offence advancing a set yardage or the offence having to cover additional yardage to gain a first down)

Running clock apart from the last 2 minutes of the game in which the clock stops on every whistle.

Coaches can challenge refs calls on the field with a red challenge flag (acts the same as a challenge in cricket/tennis, if challenge fails teams lose a time out.

I would probably say the BBC has the best coverage for the inexperienced. However like other is wish i could watch it with the US adverts!

To all the British folks who are supporting teams, how have you chosen? Do you support them all the time, or just followed them in the build-up, or just random?

I've just seen the giant screen inside (160 feet wide and 72 feet tall) the stadium. I'd love to hook up my PS3 to that...

That has to be the most over-dramatic cheesy national anthem / opening ceremony I have ever seen.

Should've just copied this
#25
lol @ christina aguiera getting the national anthem words wrong

GRAMMY Award-winning singer Christina Aguilera has suffered the most embarrassing moment of her career by singing the wrong lyrics to the national anthem at the Super Bowl in Texas in a televised broadcast to millions.

Early on in her performance of The Star-Spangled Banner, instead of singing "O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming," Aguilera repeated an earlier line, "What so proudly we watched, at the twilight's last…," followed by an unintelligible word.

In a January 24 statement when it was confirmed that she would sing the national anthem at the Super Bowl, Aguilera said, "I have been performing the anthem since I was seven years old and I must say the Super Bowl is a dream come true."

The half time show was shocking. The Black Eyed Peas have to be the worst live act they've ever had.......it was appalling.

Was there no nipples then? Very shallow of you Sy :p

At least the packers won, Randy will have some more disposable income now. :)

I watched the build up and was surprised by the roar George W got when his mug was shown on the big screen.

No.....there was none :( Although that may be a good thing as Fergie looked like a bloke who should have been in the Packers Defence. oO
