Well phat and chipped PS2 has died. Getting a slimline replacement from Argos. Would like to know of any experiences people have had with Swap Magic. Considering this, as opposed to chipping the new one.

Just buy a network adaptor and hard drive for the older ps2 if it still powers on and works and its just the dvd drive thats dead, means games boot faster and since chipped ones can handle ToxicOS pretty much every game plays.

Thanks, may keep old one in that case as a backup.

No, you can boot the hard drive software off the chip, or if thats too hard for you get someone with a working PS2 to install the software onto the memory card, thats only recommended if you cant get the chip to work as takes almost 2 megs of your memory card.

You can even patch the hard drive software to boot codebreaker cheats disc from the hard drive

Some more rep. Thanks. EDIT: Ooops, won't let me give you any more just yet

Any recommended "easy" reading?

Try googling Free MCBoot should give you all the info needed on installing to a memory card(but as I say you need access to someone with either a working PS2 to install or with a memory card with files already on)

Havent used the software off the chip but try ps3news site or console exploits

yep use selotape, to keep the lid down enough so that the disk spins
