Im currently split between sky and virgin for tv,phone, broadband and now virgin are about to show movies and sport in HD im tempted to move everything to them. I currently pay sky £68 per month for sky hd full package and multiroom. Virgin i have 10mb broadband and whatever phone line coming in at approx £30 per month.
What i really want is full tv package with movies, sports,hd etc. Top broadband (XXL 50mb) as it seems really slow now due to multiple pcs, gaming etc. Phone line im not bothered about as we hardly use it and tend to use our mobiles. So.... do you think i can get alot lower than the approx £100 per month i pay presently and what sort of price should i try for(been with virgin, ntl for years). Anyone else have a similar package and how much do you pay? What are the advantages/disadvantages between sky and virgin services?

I'm at my brothers, the cable connection is fantastic at 20mb for me, however that virgin box is horrific. Naff GUI and as slow as a week in the jail when responding to remote commands.

I am in exactly the same boat as you.
Sky HD and multiroon £68. Virgin broadband and phone £25.

I like sky so would not change my sky TV so guess the only option is to move the phone and broadband to sky.
Give them a ring and see what they can offer you. I am planning on calling them tonight myself.
I will keep you posted.
But you know sky...they only look after NEW customers not us old loyal ones!!!

Agreed. When i had virgin the broadband was excellent but as stated the box is awful. also customer service is shocking and when broadband or tv goes down they all go down together (Which happened numerous times)

Virgin signed a deal with TIVO late last year for them to supply the software for all the cable boxes. Its supposedly due before the end of this year. Comparing the new TIVO software to the current Virgin software will be like night and day I would expect. I'm expecting a huge improvement.

The speed of changing channels and better EPG is all I really miss about my old Sky+ box.

The things I like about Virgin is that 1) there are now plenty of free HD channels 2) there are three channel feeds so you can record two different channels and watch another one all on the same box and 3) the on demand content is very good and very extensive.

I went over to Virginmedia, ITS REALLY GOOD. And all fitted in the same morning, The V+ box has two hard drives so you can record two channels and watch a third channel, as I said that box is probibly worth over £300.00, I'm on the XL Package and free UK unlimited calls 24/7. 20mb Broadband, you can download a movie within 10 minutes. Go for a XL package, better value for the money. Good luck.

I dont have to have v+hd on a 2nd box just standard will be ok if that brings the price down.

Yes i see your reasoning but i have no bt phoneline so this would be added costs. My thinking also is if i leave sky might try to tempt me back.

Virgin have new boxes now so dont worry about the crappy old slow ones, you will get a new one.

why are you paying £30pcm for BB / phone when sky give you free broadband if you have their line rental (about £12 pcm???) ?

The Box I have is really good, If there is a problem, it should be replaced. I'm very pleased with Virgin.

Virgin have just offered me XXL broadband, m phone, full tv package with sky movies, sports,hd subscription,v+hd box and additional vhd box for £95.49 6 mths then £102.99 for other 6 mths. Booked it etc then phoned sky to cancel and he offered me 25% off my monthly bill and stated that virgin do not have movies in HD and its under negotiation. Is he right? i was told all movies and sky sports 1 and 2 were included?

I think Virgin have the most HD Channels, and converting channels all the time. Good luck.
