Switching bank accounts and the benifits ?

I am with Natwest for last 6 years and i have been told by halifax that if i switch over to them and pay in my salary into that account they will give me every month 5 pounds as well as a 50 pound cashback. In natwest i hardly get 50 pence as intrest every couple of months. I was thinking if i change my bank will my credit rating go down.

As in some applications they ask whom do you bank with and for how many years and so on. will that be problem for me.

I didnt think changing banks would affect your credit rating?

Check all other aspect of the account behind the £5 per month and £50 cashback such as additional charges etc.

Alliance and Leicester also sometime do £100 for switching with £50 quidco so that might be an option too

My OH has the halifax account and likes it but for every day you are overdrawn with it you have to pay £1 (Thats the agreed overdraft) if you go over your overdraft (not agreed) its £2 for each day.

So you could at the worst have to pay £31 a month if you are overdrawn all month (within the agreed time) or £62 if you are in the non-agreed Overdraft

changing bank accounts will involve a credit search so shouldnt do it too often although its nice to get £100 from them for switching :)

A&L give you and a friend £25 each if your friend recommends you & you open the account. First Direct will give you £100 to open an account. The best account for you depends on whether you are usually overdrawn or not - have you looked at the moneysavingexpert site?
