At 11am 15th January 2009 Liverpool Street station, 400 people started dancing to 8 classic tracks. Hidden cameras filmed the crowd reaction. This advert was then broadcast within 24 hours, for the 1st time yesterday on Channel 4.

8 weeks of planning, 10,000 auditions, 10 hidden cameras.

I think it turned out really well, but surprised that they are allowed to do it without getting consent from everyone they filmed! Wouldnt surprise me if there were complaints!

you do need permission to film in London (medium to big scale, and especially when production companies are involved). permits are obtained from the London borough you're filming in, in this case would be City of London. Then the London Transport film office would be involved too. parking permits for the crew (if required) are issued for a fee or waived depending on the council film office's discretion.

They would also have had to use the space when the station is closed (in prep video) ... and it would be a big-ish operation behind the scenes if they had to audition 10,000 people (maybe not all at the same time/same venue).

good way to cheer up people.
