ok so we've got a 34/36 inch phillips tv - 5 yrs old we bought from powerhouse with a vid and dvd player... for i think 900 quid maybe a lil more

we got the insurance for 5 yrs and recently wifey was goin on about how the insurance had expired and according to what we were told back then if we didnt claim we cud have the money back what we paid around the region of 250..

what we had to do was write a letter to the company and ask for it - wifey was sure it expired on the 10th.

went to birmingham on sat and came back - rite watch some tv. mom goes there's no point its knackered - i just thought oh god 3 days after it expired!

it basically switches it self off after 3-4 mins of viewing

checked the policy and it expired on the 24th!! hurrah - so its gettin towed away 2morro for replacement/repair

now considering its 5 yrs old whats the chances on repair? i fancy a lil bit of plasma/lcd myself

talk about building things with a limited shelf life!

Didn't Powerhouse go bust?
#2
:) That was good

My laptop keyboard broke 2 days after they called and asked if we wanted to extend the insurance because it had expired, we said no.....

Called them and haggled, got the insurance for half the cost with a free printer, and then told them (on the same call) that the laptop needed fixing, so they sent someone out to fix it!

yeah htey did go bust but hte policies u take out are usually taken care of a seperate company i think very few elec companies take responsibility for the own policies

it feels so awkward now with the tv missing

it was a good tv but i'd much rather get a new one

Repairing the tv will probably cost more than its worth, Although if they have to repair or replace it, They have no choice!

nice one.

Good for you, too many times stuff decides to fail a short while after the warranty / insurance has ended, but it happening inside of it ending is very lucky indeed!

I also wonder what they'll decide to do (whether repair or replace) though, here's hoping they replace it with something new for you though!

they've told us to call 2morro and see if there's been any progress

it wud b wicked to get a new tv though. esp as i've got a 360 thats not being used to its full potential with the graphics!

Knowing me, I would have waited a few days to say it broke. :giggle:

My tv went bang (literally) on my birthday so I spent my 29th birthday trudging around Currys etc... whilst on the phone to my brother as he was looking on the internet for the best model.

I spent £399.99 for a tv and they said do you want the stand too? I said no but they said it costs....wait for it 1p yes 1p!
I took it out of principle and all it does is get in my bloody way, incidentally I am putting it in the loft later, anyone want to help?

i'm miffed now. the more i think that my tv is coming back 2morro the more i feel like taking it and breaking it and saying i dropped it. i want a new TV dammit!!!
