  Be prepared for many more calls from this mob. Even after reporting them to Ofcom for unsolicited calls , they still called .

  I got the upgrade in March, downloading at 37meg upload 1.5meg it was a BT engineer who installed it with there equipment. I have had no problems.

  Been reading reviews of each package, not many around for talktalk fibre optic. Dcx, read alot about being closer to the green cabinet, whats that about?

  They all use the exact same copper lines, more so with Fibre as Openreach even install the modem. Anyone claiming that moving will get you better speeds doesn't really have any idea what they're talking about and should be instantly ignored. You'll just be paying someone else for the same problem.

  
  
  It is partially correct but better and worse speeds can be had from different ISPs. While line speed is the same throughout, there is the factor of contention ratio within different ISPs. Contention ratio is a measure of demand over bandwidth. Internet traffic is sent along channels (be it fibre optic or traditional copper wiring) and certain ISPs may transmit more data over a single channel than another ISP, due to congestion from large amounts of users. Of course, this can be circumvented by using more channels but this involves paying for more lines. Given the same amount of channels, not all ISPs provide the same speeds.
  
  I do not agree that claims of moving ISPs for better speeds should be ignored!

  ^ What Elliot said. Ask any BT engineer and they always say you get what you pay for, and that includes how much these ISPs are paying Wholesale.
  
  Wouldn't go near BT mind - similar reasons to TT - terrible support staff.

  The wire that goes to your house from the cabinet with the fibre cable - is copper - the same as what links a phone line to the exchange. That's why it's called FTTC - fibre to the cabinet.
  
  Therefore, the lesser distance between you and the cabinet, the higher speeds.

  Hi, I upgraded from Talktalk Plus to Fibre Optic two weeks ago. The Fiber Optic service is good if you're just using desktop, laptop, slate devices, but xboxes, bluray players and playstations don't work with the router - suffering constant buffering issues with any streaming content. I've tried every workaround with talktalk's awful customer services and they have finally agreed that until they either get a new router or new firmware the service is unfit for purpose. They are rolling me back to my old 9MBPS connection that I never had any problem with.

  I have the large super fibre optic with talktalkup to 76 MB. So far I've noticed no difference than when I had the small fibre optics. I did a speed test and the highest I made was a Ping: 53ms Download: 38.35Mbps Upload:10.62
  
  I did ring taltalk 0870 444 1620 and the man in the Philiphines did say something not correct and ring back in 3 hours. This I did and was asked to switch of router for 15 seconds then switch back on. No difference. Forgot to add that I was on hold for more than 20 minutes.
  Back to the install of my Fibre Optic . Yes! dcx_badass. the BT engineer tested my phone extension lead and fixed his box to this. I did explain that this is copper wire. I've lived in this house over 30 years now and the junction box for our mid terrace house of 4 is on my wal of my house. Been the same copper wires to all the houses for as long as I remember. The fibre optic must go to the junction box to the whole housing estate some half mile away. How come virgin cannot offer the fibre optic but talktalk and bt can. Some con going on here.
