I signed up to a contract with Tiscali in October 2009 ( 18 months at £14.99, first 3/12 £9.99) They have now been taken over by TalkTalk. I was told that my package would not change. They are however increasing the prices, like it or not, to £18.48/month.

They are also offering different upgrade options, all seem capped at 40GB DL limit and 8Meg connection. If I take an upgrade I enter a new 18 month contract.

I am not sure where I stand? Are TalkTalk breaking my Tiscali contract? Can I change ISP now without a breach of contract?

I changed to Tiscali to try and save money, wish I hadn't bothered now. I have given up my BT connection and also given up on BEunlimited which was a great ISP. I am also now realising a 40GB DL cap isn't as much as I thought.(Use Iplayer loads).

If I can move ISP , I'm thinking of O2. i understand they are just about to roll out a Broadband/Line rental package, with unlimited useage.

Anybody else in the same boat? Any advice appreciated.

i've been with tiscali for years and they changed my package without telling me too. i'm now paying £2 extra a month for a limited download package where before mine was unlimited.
it really is a joke

likewise not even sure how far my 40gb will go. I had a look at O2 and sky but when i check my number online it says its not a BT line although Bt installed it years ago and I was once with them. So not sure where to go.

HAve been with tiscali for at least 2-3 years on max package unlimited, now changed over to talktalk but package has stayed the same for me - if they change it to a capped package or ask for more money (currently paying nearly £30 for broadband and line rental with free calls all day) then they will get a phonecall asking for a MAC code straight away.
Phone customer services and explain the situation to them, if you were on an unlimited package before and they don't offer an unlimited package with talktalk, then ask them for a MAC code and swap to a different ISP. I am unsure whether the "contract" is enforceable by them anyway as it was taken out with tiscali and if they've switched you to a talktalk package then the "contract" no longer applies IMO.

It just means your line rental is not with BT at the moment, ie its with talktalk.

Makes it difficult to check if other services will work. Also if you do swap to another ISP you will probably have to pay a BT connection fee, unless you swap to BT, they may then reconnect for free.

Issues with Tiscali...write to this address:

Customer Management Team
Tiscali Customer Services
PO Box 15322
Birmingham
B46 9BU

This is only if you had your initial contract with Tiscali, and TalkTalk have now taken it over. Different address if your complaint is against TalkTalk.
