Lets get this into perspective

If you have a current MOT and Insurance covering you for the vehicle and the DVLA have you on the system as the keeper then you can apply for your Road Fund Licence online (you will have to pay for the whole of March )

The worse that can happen is that you could be 'done' for failing to display (non endorsable) but the Policeman would have to be really desparate to do this!

Insurance & MOT details are held by the DVLA and a record will be held that Road Fund Licence has been paid so any Moving Vehicle Check will show that the vehicle is OK to be driven on a Public Road so you will not be 'Pulled' unless you have been an 'utter prat' with your driving in which case the failing to display comes into force.

You are an ex traffic cop.
This means you are not up to date.
If the car is untaxed or the previous owner has applied for a refund on tax, this car will be showing untaxed on the computer and an automatic notice will be in the post if he does not pay.

not if you apply online it doesnt :)
if you purchase your tax disc online the tax office computer is immediatley updated (only if you pay by debit card and you get immediate confirmation)
if you pay by credit card there may be a delay......
and dont pick on the EX-traffic cop unless your a current traffic cop they probably know more than you do :)
