(FIRST 4 COMMENTS CONTAIN PIC'S)

Looking to buy a Optoma HD65 projector and use my popcorn hour - media streamer to stream the movies via HDMI.

Problem is how do i get audio?.

I only have logitech X-540's.

How do i get audio from them?.

Any convertors i need to buy or something?.

Any help would be great.

I'd try the s-video connectors direct from one to another, either that or hdmi

You need to connect the left / right audio output from the popcorn hour box into an audio system input.

Which cable would i use?.

That would give me audio from the popcorn through the speaker on the projector, need it through the logitech speakers.

Need sum sort of convertor for the logitech plugs, with audio in/out put, maybe audio in/out to audio in/out (Dont know if that makes any sense. half asleep)
#8
Yes that is the back, all plugs are in/used with corresponding colours.

Yeah.

Single cable solution is available here. Buy an HDMI cable. Dont spend much money on one - you canpick them up for about £3 and will do the same job that the currys salesman will try to sell you one for £50.

Edit: Ah just seen the update to the audio ox. Hmmmm. Yes I can see your problem now!!!

Whats on the other end of the cable in the first pic? The same?

End of 1st pic is plugged into the system.

Hmm. Then surely you just use to connect that from the popcorn to audio box (top three on the pic) and then the bottom ones are connected to the speakers themselves?
#13
Both ends are the same colours (Top pic) and same style plug/jack things.

Ah OK. Are you saying they just dont fit? I'm fairly certain you can get a converter plug from din to pin. Have a look on deal extreme. The top three on the audio box are actually holes to connect to arent they? (Difficult to see the middle one)

I could do with something like the 2nd pic, but instead of a red and white out?, a red and white in, you know instead of 2 hole/ends, 2 pins.

So i could plug the green pin in and it will be attached to a red and a white pin ending.

Thinking that?.

Do you concur?, lol, plug the green thing from the 1st pic in the black thingy/hole.

Yes, that is the sort of thing I was refering to.

The actual colours dont mean anything, they are merely so you visually see which goes where (Im sure you knew that!)

However, because the pictures are a bit small, its not easy to tell if they are jack plug holes or normal composite type connectors.

That cable itself. What did it come with and does it fit in either? If it fits in one but not the other, then its a simple case of buying 3 of those connectors and ensuring you plug into the corresponding hole with the new connector cable. Hopefully that makes sense?

Think i know whats going on now, il buy the Y cable i linked to, im thinking it should work.

Cheer's for your help.

Rep'd ya.

OK, as long as you are sure you can see whats needed! (though I thought that cable was just a straight conversion not a Y conversion?)

soz guys but not sure that plan will work, prob is the PHMP is stereo out on the analogue channels (marked audio chanels L&R)
whereas the speaker set up is for multiple channels on analogue cabling, it is possible the speakers can accept a stereo in on some of the pins but you will need to check the manual.
This would "suffice" if all you require is stereo but from the look of those speakers seems they were designed for a device with full 5.1 analogue output (a PC)
so you need speakers with a digital input or something to bridge the two

good news a quick search on that speaker system reveals it is capable of re-processing a stereo signal into a 5.1 emulation using a "matrix" mode, so as far as cabling goes you just need 2 x rca connector to either 2 x phone OR 2 x rca connector for the audio.
check the manual for which two channels to fix to on the speakers and buy the cable for that
the video can be hdmi to hdmi or component, whatever you choose

The HDMI input will accept the 5.1 sound. So it should be a case that connecting the audio cables be redundtant and simply using the speakers to connect to the main speaker thingy. Not knowing anything about this "popcorn" device, its difficult to know and probably best not to assume!

Hehe. You incorrectly assumed the mention of assumption was aimed at you! :w00t:

What I was referring to is the fact HDMI will carry the audio signal of 5.1 That will connect from the projector to the popcorn (which has no audio outputs anyway) But as you said, the connectors are stereo only on the popcorn - not front, rear and centre.

ahhh but then i could say you incorrectly assumed that i was assuming the mention of assumption was aimed at me ;)
tbh can't remember if i did but as only you and me and the OP are involved in this thread i would be entirely right for doing so, so it's your fault anyway lol
