Techie help needed with xbox 360

Recently got sent a new Vrigin media hub/modem that has replaced my old modem and router. I had activated the modem and set up the laptops which are working fine. The problem is my xbox isn't connecting to it. I have gone into system settings, network config, but there doesn't seem to be any option on to scan for a network or anything like it. Under the basic settings it lists Ip settings as automatica nd there is an address, the gateway is listed as 0.0.0.0

how do I get it to connect to the new network?

There is definetly an option to scan for a network to connect to. If there's a way to delete current settings do that. When I moved house I just searched for new network and went from there though :/ (different router/company)

set xbox to AUTO ip and AUTO DNS/ Gateway afer setting up router/hub to Use DHCP and enable Upnp in router hub

afer setting up router/hub to Use DHCP and enable Upnp in router hub

how do I do that?

log into it but DHCP is probably already enabled

this is doing my head in, none of the options that are meant to be listed, such as scan for network, are listed, just the basic and additional settings tabs with the IP settings details.

they are but how are you connecting your 360 to router via a wire or wirless ?

the basic settings need to be set to automatic and dns the same. if you are using the wireless addon for an older 360 unplug it put back in again (you will then get an additional blade to configure wep etc . if you are using a 360-s with built in wi-fi. you will need to log into the virgin router maybe 192.168.0.1 via a network cable between your PC and the router enter username and pass for router and adjust the setting in router. eg the ssid has now changed with you having a new modem/router also the wifi wep/wpa key is different

im using a game adaptor - wireless. Settings are all set to automatic. Will have to find the username and password for the new router, not sure where they'll be

a game adapter by belkin or linksys or are you referring to the official xbox wireless addon ?

may need a firmware update but it would be easier to just set the security on your virgin hub to wep and use that on the g adapter to test first before attempting the upgrade the firmware in the gaming adapter and always use a wired connection to upgrade anything (never over wireless connections you also need to make sure you use the correct firmware for your model and version number)
