I'm gutted. 4 lads have just gone down the street, one on each side of the cars and smashed all the wing mirrors off!! 4:30 in the morning and thought it'd be a laugh!!

Police turned up and asked if I could recognise any of them. I'm the only one in the street still up at that time and the lads saw me come out of my house and the police guy thinks I'd stand up in a court and point out who it was. I said, "I've got 3 kids in the house, do you think I'd risk them coming back and putting a petrol bomb threw the window for the sake of £100 worth of mirrors?" He smiled and said, "personally, I know what you mean!"

It makes my blood boil, like I've got the money at the moment to replace them!

I don't know whether you've heard of a place in Manchester called Gorton, well I live just over the border in Stockport and what tends to happen is the gangs come over from Gorton and do things like this, mug the kids for their mobiles, jewellery and money or nick their bikes.

A gang of about 30 came over last year and mugged my son and his friends outside the house, but because of the amount that were there, you simply couldn't do anything. It was like a swarm of locusts hitting the street and stripping it!!

Even with an anonymous line up, it was 4:30 and they saw me coming out of my house, so makes it pretty obvious and too risky.

Kids went up and down my street a few weeks bag, keying scratches into all 4 doors of all the cars on the street. £400 for respray on all doors :x

Make's you mad, I know have had it done to our car before £144 for a new wing mirror! just the part! That was without the silver colour on the back! and my Hubby fitted it himself!

I would want to dob them in. But as you say if you know they saw you come out you'r house, you have to think twice. But why should they get away with it!
#5
what rotten luck. sorry mate

try to keep it quiet that you saw them otherwise you could all hell from your neighbours
#6
Gorton is near where Shameless is filmed. That sort of gives you an idea of what its like!
#7
I would imagine that if this had happend 20 years ago it would have been seen by all the neighbours and reported by a large number of people on the street. I would imagine the thugs would have created quite a racket smashing every mirror on the street. I bet plenty of your neighbours just curtain twitched and didn't even want to come to the door. We read the papers and the storys of fathers getting their heads stamped in outstide their own house and it quite rightly puts the fear into many people.

I remember my dad and another neighbour tackling a drunk burgler on the front lawn in the 80's, can't imagine this happening today. There seems to be a deep malaise in the UK right now, can't believe the amount of people I know who've moved to Austrialia.

I'd move house in your situation (not easy at the moment) or move country :)
#8
Yep, had similar.....

Some idiot must have climbed onto the roof of my car, left a large dent on it and the sunroof no longer opens. I cant afford to get it fixed, i dunno if theres any point either incase something else happens to it
#9
they really are idiots with nothing better to do,i know what you mean about having kids and not wanting to risk them coming back to you i take it you are near reddish then i am in hyde not that far away, could you find out who they are and teach them a lesson your self without getting the police involved maybe not the best advice but thats how it works in gorton. and lol to the person that mentioned shameless not quite that bad but unfortuantly you always get idiots that have nothing better to do.

I know what you mean, I live in Longsight and my estate backs onto Gorton. The kids around there are absolute chavs and they terrify and harrass a lot of the ppl around there. My car got damaged so many times when I first moved in.
Gorton has always been a bad area but just seems to have got worse and worse over last few years. For anyone1 who watches Shameless on C4, I thinbk Gorton is the estate that programme is based on lol

I feel for you man sorry to hear that :(

The only way to sort these problems out is get together a vigilante group and if you see people like this do things like this or bullying kids, go give them a kicking. It really gets on my nerves the parents dont sort there kids out and when someone says something to there kids the parents pretend there kids are little angels, the police need to take there finer out and do some work for a change. If they turned a blind eye every now and again i think it would help, for example, group of teenagers mug a kid of his phone and give him a bit of a slap as they do it, a guop of adults should come out there houses and give them a bit of a kicking and the police should stand by and let them, denying all knowledge of seeing it. Rant over
#12
omg thats horrible. agree with chuckles...they should get beats!
#13
I'm a video vigilante. Always catch people with dogs that don't pick up thier dog mess on the estate. Then I go and show the videos to the housing office anonymously. It works wonders.

It's hard to approach the gangs around here because I know too well that they carry knives and guns. I'm talking late teens to early twenties, not the odd 12 & 13 year old you could give a little slap to.

More than likely, the guys that did this would have been coming out of Stockport after a night in a club and have probably done countless cars through Reddish before they got to our street.

Just found out that a local car spares shop to me sell the mirrors on eBay for about £35 each, so not as dear as I thought. But I may wait a day or so just in case they return.

Just because you didn't report them won't stop them attacking your family or your possessions :? i reported some last week as a kid got knifed outside my local pub and died and i was up at the time.

They will know it's me but I have my family behind me who know these kids parents so feel pretty safe and the police have been sat vigilant outside the pub and on my street since.

Bristol is clamping down on this crap and people should start standing up for themselves. My niece and nephew went to school with this kid and they are frightened how their peers act.

I've had a few choice words with the pub landlord too, letting underage teens hang around and drink outside his pub :x

People like this do really annoy me , just scum bags , like one poster said they deserve to have the kicked **** out of them by everyone who has there car damaged , only way some people learn ,its a sad fact but true , our legal system is a joke.

Where i lived previously near a town , i use to see groups of lads and even grown men who most likely didnt pull that night , smash peoples Wing mirrors off , smash phone boxes ....

Only Criminals come out with the rubbish about being a grass........too many people turn a blind eye these days , believe it or not even woman what get raped sometimes people turn a blind eye , i couldnt live with myself personally if i turned a blind eye.

Drunk drivers and all scum like above need a good kicking , i know some may say it no answer or its just as bad but i really dont think it is , i think its the only way ....as if people knew if they did things like this then they would have people taking revenge then it wouldnt happen as much , it works in some countries

If a drunk driver killed any one i loved or even if someone damaged anything of mine , then i would give them back the same pain that they gave me , only fair.

I'm not sure you've got much right to sympathy when you are too selfish to do anything about it for the greater good.

Do you not see that not doing anything in case they "petrol bomb" you, will just mean they carry on and on, getting worse and worse because they know they can get away with it, and will probably move on eventually to petrol bombing anyway?

I have no sympathy or respect for you whatsoever.

Do something about it, and I'll feel your pain, but your stance is atrocious.

No , im just sick off the amount of idiots in this country and our stupid legal system , If this country grew some balls and starting being tougher then i may not feel like i do , but as it stands this country is a joke.

its a joke because of people like the OP not seeing the bigger picture and not having the balls to see things through.

But some people do following it through , my friend reported a crime once as someone was robbing a van , they got caught in the act , but all they got were fines and i believe one got community service but only because he had been done numerours times before.

I mean pervs get let out in like 2 or 3 year some even less , then you have murders or dont even serve life anymore , its just not right.

Oh I'm not saying everything else is all right, I'm just saying the OP is hardly helping.

but you are right - but whats the answer when prisons are full anyway - and seemingly too attractive a punishment anyway.

I agree , People need to report people , this is why these scum think they can get away with it cause to many turn a blind eye , if everyone reported these sorts of crimes , is every single person going to be burned out lol??

It does not even happen as often as papers or some people like you to believe.

Police have told me , and they also are sick of people who often turn a blind eye ,it happens alot , does not make it easy for them when people complain but dont want to give a statement etc.

Should be placed in a prison cell and not be let out at all , just rubbish horrible food and water , thats it , no games , no lifting weights....but i guess this wouldnt go down well with all the idiot left wingers.

Agree, it needs to be done as the teenager gangs I see are a right bunch of b*&!£$ds - they have no respect or values anymore...it's such a pity that the Police can't actually do their job properly but also their parents need to take a much firmer hand on raising these blasted teenagers.

I'm seriously thinking of quitting the UK but the problem is my lack of formal qualifications (I went to college) and it would take to long to get them for emigrating into Australia, Canada or New Zealand...considering moving into Europe but no idea where yet.

Cheers, Scotty Boy!

I agree , also was considering leaving the UK , to many problems over here , now , Police are over stretched , some bright spark thought it would be a good idea to let the flood gates open to every scum bag going.

Since traveling to various places ive seen how i want and like to live and its not Britain , if i didnt have close family and friends i would be off like a shot , i will when i get older though.

What do you mean by this?

What do you mean by this?

Like how i say , in our local paper some bloke was granted to stay here because he claimed he was gay and his life was in danager because of him being gay.... guess what , he had been going round raping women

I say send people like that back and to face the legal system in that country , they would soon sh--- themselves then

What i mean is not enough checks are done , they are letting through people who are claiming they eiter are a student when most arnt , or are claiming the life is in danger when its not , makes me laugh they pass everyone else and head straight here , if my life was under threat i would go to any country what was closest

This country is full , why over strech police etc to boiling point by adding more people , more work for police , more waiting times at hospitals

I know what you mean, and i agree very slightly to the police not being able to do there job, but tbh i think they also look for the wrong type of crime, like when they arrest people for speeding (which is a bad crime) but those normally law abiding people get more hassle then a mugger or robber and they get bigger fines, i would rather police gotto a robbery as it happened (Instead of the next day) instead of standing on a road with a speed gun.

I do not drive btw so its not like i am bitter, but i have had my house attempted to be broken into when i was in the house i had lots of noise and chased the cocks away, after i phoned the police and said they are trying to get in as i talk to you and they send a policeman 3 hours later, i think police have no excuse for blaming people for being to scared to go to court when police do things like that.

until their is harsher penalties for these crimes it will continue, and people do fear speaking out and to be honest i am not sure i would, if someone was killed and i witnessed it then i would have to, but risk my own family for someone smacking up some cars, i dont think i would

I was with 3 of my mates and someone chucked a brick at the window and it bounced off i got up to have a look and another brick came thou the window, so we all got up and ran outside and saw a load of blokes running different ways i went 1 way with 1 of my mates and 2 others went another, and 1 of my mates ended up getting beaten by 15 blokes with baseball bats and was in hotpital getting 27 stiches in his head after that, i we all saw it. but i oculd not help as i would not have stood a chance he was in the doorway of a house when it happened and the people let him in pissing with blood.

After all the poo that went on the magistrates court said go to crown court as he was so guilty, then the blokes ended up buying out 2 of my friends with a grand and a holiday each, and tried to buy me out and i said no unless my mate (who got beaten decided he did not want to go though with it) My mate was asking me to see this bloke btw as a couple of the blokes turned up at his house and threatened him and his familiy and me if we went to court. So i went to the pub with this bloke twice to see what was happeneing and what he was offering and had to say no to him, and in the end it was thrown out of court cos 2 of my other mates said theyy did not see anything and they saw more then i did.

The police did not want to do anything about us and our familiys being threatened, so it does make it hard for people to go though with court (Glad I would have and did not back down) but i totally understand why people would not do it. We were all 15 years old BTW and i am not friends with 2 of them any more but the mate who got battered is and will always be one of the best mates a man could ever have (Apart from his dog maybe ;) lol
