Is it expensive at the dentist?

It can run from £500+ at the dentist

but...

If you go to one which provide you with your own set of trays you only have to go once and can buy the refills for the trays. I had mine done a few years ago and I just use the trays every 6 months or so for a top up.

WOW and ouch! £500 - my wife would kill me if I did that :) I have noticed that the gels are hydrogen paroxide based. I have used this diluted in the past with reasonable results, might giveit another go, unless I can find a reasonable priced kit that actually works.

i have mine done at dentisi as much stronger than those bought from shops and you get customised trays to use at home.
if you actually have it done in the dentist chair by them it can cost serious money
i paid £199 to start and now every 6 months can just get paste refill for around £25.

If you do it at home, make sure you don't leave it on for longer then it says.

My private/NHS dentist doing it for £199 down from £299. Never had it done I found you get a similar effect by overdosing on fluoride tablets just as your adult teeth are coming through. The dentist said the last thing that will remain of me when I'm buried is my teeth, they sparkle!

Now I know you all have stained teeth. :giggle:

I personally use an electronic toothbrush, which gives it the dentist affect and my teeth could be a little whiter but they're quite shiny. :)

Mine are ok since I don't smoke or drink too much caffiene, but would like them to be a little whiter.

my daughter uses crest whitestrips - the new ones that stay on - just leave on teeth for 10 minutes a day for 10 days every 6 months , her teeth are crystal white, she has always used them and they are brilliant

Will give that a go. I don't expect too much since my teeth are almost as old as I am:)

This is my problem. I smoke and drink black coffee by the bucket load. I do use a decent electric toothbrush, Listerene and usually a whitening tootpaste, but my teeth are coffee coloured. I'd love to whiten them up, but can't afford/justify £500 at the dentist. They need something doing as I even frighten myself when looking in the mirror. Always looks like I've demolished a chocci bar

If you know anyone going to the US there are all kinds of things in the drugstores over there, I brought some back last month. For about $8 you can get a tube of 'stuff' that really works...
