My pre-order from GAME (of the PS3 variant) of "Tekken 6" arrived today (Wednesday).

Anybody care for a bout or two online?

I'm also interested in your thoughts on the latest installment in the long-running franchise, especially Xbox 360 owners who may be new to the series.

Who is your favourite character, and why?

Thanks for your comments.

would do but i don't have it yet :-(

I can see it dropping price very quickly. I think they released it at the wrong time.

Let us know what is like as Soul Calibur is looking a bit dated.

My copy arrived from ShopTo this morning.

Add me on PSN: edmundsiew

Still learning the game though!

Initial thoughts: Graphics isn't brilliant but acceptable. Online isn't as laggy as what everyone has described it to be. Soundtrack is decent which makes you feel excited and engaged in the battle. It will take effort and time to learn one character and I currently main Hwoarang due to it's flexibility in kicks.

What is disappointing is that I can't watch matches while waiting for my turn in lobby.

Overall, I'm happy to have purchased this game at £29.85 and would be more than happy to keep it as one of my fighting game collections.

Save your money. It's crap.

Or to elaborate a little, it's no better (imo) than Tekken 1/2/3/4/5. Graphics a little worse even.

I can't remember when was the last time I played Tekken, think it was on the PS2.

I'll probably agree with you but then again, regardless of any Tekken series, it's still Tekken for you. They can't change much of the fighting mechanics or else it won't be Tekken anymore.

What I enjoy most is the selection of characters in this series.

just got mine this afternoon, haven't put it in yet. If its as good as the rest of the tekken series then i'll be happy. Spent many hours with mates playing tekken tag and tekken 4

Namco: "Lot of ideas" for Tekken 7
Wednesday 28-Oct-2009 11:55 AM

Including Fight Night-style facial movement, director tells CVG

Tekken series director Katsuhiro Harada has "a lot of ideas" for Tekken 7, he's revealed in a CVG reader Q&A.

Answering a question from CVG reader 'Kain Carver', Harada said of his Tekken 7 plans: "Oh, there are a lot of ideas... I can't say too much yet, though.

"For example, we've got a new idea for a facial-expression system for when people get punched and so forth. It'd be a real thrill to see in action, so I definitely want to do that."

Elsewhere in the interview the Tekken director says that despite doom-sayers the fighting genre is "doing pretty well for itself" and he'd love to work on a cross-series fighting game.

Look out for the full CVG Reader Q&A later today.

it's wave 4. You need to either use the boot disk thats knocking about or patch it. Pm me if you need any help.

I got my copy yesterday as well and disagree with the comments posted. I think the gameplay and extra features are awesome. I purchased it on xbox 360 and I must say it takes a little getting used to the controls but once you get into it, you wont be putting it down for a long time.

If you need any help playing online in "Tekken 6" you could always wear a pair of lucky "King of Iron Fist Tournament" undercrackers available from the LaLaBit Market!

Then you may have an excuse for being a bit 'pants' at the game.

Or not.

If I'm honest "Tekken 6" isn't as big an improvement over the other titles in the franchise as I thought it was going to be, but it is still very playable & the new "Tekken Force Mode" storyline is entertaining (albeit a little too riddled with cut-scenes, and the dialogue seems a little 'forced' [no pun intended]; but maybe that is a translation issue from Japanese to English).

I was more impressed with the advancement in game-play from "Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection" to "Soul Calibur IV", but maybe restrictions were placed on the development due to the concurrent release across both the PS3 & Xbox 360 platforms (with the PSP release coming next year).

I wonder if "Tekken Bowling" will be back as downloadable content in the near future.

You can bet that there will be some micro-transactions for new costumes though. This is Namco after all! :)

I'm inclined to agree, I think.

Although "(The) Devil Within" as part of the "Tekken 5" release was fun, and "Tekken 1", "...2", & "...3" were included on the same disc, so perhaps "5" was best :)

"3" also had the Beach Ball mode, didn't it?

I hope the Tag Team game-play comes back one day & can be implemented as a multi-player option.

I used to like the mode where you choose one fighter and fight loads of people andat the end of the level you would fight another character in the game. Is that lode still in it

I think 2 was the best and had a great intro, 3 was brilliant and better in some ways but IMO was just more polished.

Yes, the "Arcade Mode" is still ever-present, and probably the best way to accumulate funds to pimp-out your characters of choice in the latest 'bling' & Japanese fashions.

The returning "Survival Mode" & "Practice Mode" are also there so you can hone your skills before going online.

I think so, but I have been a fan of the series throughout the many instalments (on various PlayStation platforms).

I'm not sure if you meant you have not played video games for a while, or you have another console to play on, but if you have an Xbox 360 you can always play "Tekken 6" on that (instead).

I have not, however, ever liked the "Street Fighter" franchise.

I prefer the rendering of the characters within the Tekken universe to be more like the actual movements from the differing martial arts styles on which they are based (albeit, in some cases, far from the actual execution of the movements).

A majority of the forms portrayed are very close to their real life practise though.

Apart from "Virtua Fighter", & "Dead or Alive", I have not found any other martial arts series to emulate styles to the degree exhibited in the "Tekken" titles.

You're welcome. Thank you for the "rep" you added to my post.

For details of a) if I have it & b) if it has an online mode... may I refer you to the first two sentences in the opening post of this thread? :)

(But "yes" & "yes" to answer your questions).

I have all the [PS3] Trophies from online play & offline play now... just need to gain those from the "Scenario Campaign" mode... but the longevity of the game is with the multiplayer aspects; either offline (with a local player), or online with global players (either in unranked [i.e. for fun] matches or ranked matches).

BFN,

fp.

[EDIT]: Forgot to mention... I've also unlocked some content for "PlayStation Home" whilst playing too.

Are you online now? Hmm... that was a pretty stupid question... you'd not see this reply.

OK... I'll try again... what time are you usually playing? If you wish to arrange a mutually convenient time, please drop me a note via the PS3 XrossMediaBar.

Wow, £17.99 is dirt cheap for Tekken 6.

I paid 30quid for the game I'm gonna keep the game despite me being bad at it. It's just so much fun to learn and play with friends at the same time (they can just button mash and still have a good chance to win a match).

However, my only gripe is that there is no proper training mode for new comers who want to get more involved in the fighting mechanics.

I wanted to learn how to juggle but couldn't find a good source. Videos are available on youtube but if only they had proper guide to which directional buttons/buttons to push, that'll be great.

Other than that, I'll happily rank this game 3rd in my list after SF4 and Blazblue.

I've been eagerly awaiting this fabled price. Imagine my shock this morning after getting out of the shower to see Play.com selling for an absurd price. I'll report back after my P8 exam next week.

I ordered it early this morning on Play - it's now 4 hours later and I still haven't had a confirmation email. The order status just says "Processing" so wouldn't like to say whether it will actually go through or not.
