did the sign have a red ring around it like a normal sign? OR was it written in orange with no red ring around it?

Did it have a red circle around it?
#3
So what help do you actually need? The moment seems to have passed.

Yeh....were there cameras? I always stick to speed limit, cant use the excuse that others were going faster. If you sit in left lane and do 50 there no problem with what everyone else doing. So was there a red circle?

The motorways all over the country are being slowed down with the 50mph 'roadworks'.
They have 'average' speed cameras which clocks the time it takes you to go from one camera to the next, & if your average speed is over 50mph you get nicked. It makes me laugh when people slam the brakes on for the cameras then put their foot down inbetween them!

Just orange

Sounds like it was just the matrix signs. Although technically they are legally enforceable they are usually ignored as they stay on long after the incident has cleared. There wouldn't be cameras on them.

If just orange its only advisory - therefore you dont have to abide by it. Only if it has a red ring it is an official speed limit

i was also on the road and saw the sign - it normally used if there has been an accident or fog or a change in the normal speed conditions of the road - as it was a one off and no other signs were stating it i think everyone just ignored it (i know i did - lol)

Sorry but you're wrong. They are legally enforceable.

Is that correct or not? I was under the impression that under the RTA any speed limit has to be surrounded by a red circle, anything else is not a limit. Advised limits (yellow signs or matrix limits) not surrounded by red circles are only enforced through careless/dangerous driving type offences.

I am happy to be proven wrong.

Not sure what's legally enforceable or what's not, but if you stick to the limit shown (regardless of whatg speed others are driving at) you'll be fine.....

I agree - no red circle then not official limit

Me to, no red ring and its just guidance and doesn't have to be followed by law
