I would imagine that they would reimburse you.

Have you tried their website for the e-mail address? ;-)

I haven't ever seen an e mail adress for them, but customer services deal with it quickly, in one way or another !!

I've had so many problems with Tesco and the freshness of the stuff they deliver. One time my order turned up and according to the best before dates, I had to eat 4 pork steaks, 8 chicken breasts, 2 packs of mince and a large steak within 2 days ! I don't mind freezing meat, but not when it's so close to the best before date and I've only just got hold of it.

The last time I had a problem with them (they delivered lamb steaks that had a stinky, slimey green coating all over them, was rancid !!) they asked me to take the pack back to the store, which I said I wasn't doing because it defeated the purpose of avoiding the shop by having it delivered. They then said hang on to it and the driver will collect it when he's next in the area, but I explained I wasn't hanging on to an open packet of stinking meat, so they backed down and gave me a refund.

I think it depends who you get on the phone as some people have been really good when there's been problems, and others have been really difficult and argumentative. But you have to call them and it's pot luck what happens after that

I had the same problem about a month ago, I rang the store to complain, spoke to the manager, he took my details and the next time i went in to do a "big shop" I went to CS, was reimbursed the cost of the chicken and given a £5 gift card for the inconvenience!

And so they should, it's worth a fiver to them for a goodwill gesture.

I wouldnt have left the store for anything less:w00t: I find that raising my voice just enough for other customers to hear tends to make CS listen a little more intently:whistling:

I have my tesco delivery every week and if something is near to sell by i ALWAYS complain and straight away with no asking for it returned they refund the money. (joints of beef, cooked meat, veg etc.) I have not ever had them ask for the return. I was once asked for the barcode number and that was all.:)

I had 2 packets of instore bakery bread rolls delivered, which the next day had over 20 flies in each packet. Meaning they had fly lava on when delivered, and we could have eaten them as it wasnt visible until the next day when sealed packs were full of flies

The outcome? We were refunded about 75p, not even an apology! Told them we had the bread rolls, still sealed, and they said just throw them away there is nothing they can do. Not happy with hygiene at the store and havent shopped with them since

I once found a small stone in my frozen peas and took them to tesco. They were sent off for analysis and i was refunded and got a £5.00 voucher which i argued was not enough (what if i broke a tooth on it and had not of noticed) and they gave me another £5.00. Not bad for a bag of peas but i must admit i didn't expect this standard from them. I have continued to shop there cos of all the codes on here:)

Ah, this thread reminded me of the old Value Tescos frozen 'meat' sausages which had 'may contain:' and then a list of every animal you could name- donkey, kangaroo, etc etc

Off topic slightly i know, but,i used to work at a Tesco warehouse distribution centre in the frozen food section. You had to 'pick' so many boxes of frozen food items per hour to ensure your correct rate.
The part baked rolls (loads of varieties) that were used in Tesco cafes and bakeries nearly always ended up on the floor due to their rubbish packaging. The floor was obviously filthy, used by fork-lift trucks etc..
Due to the lack of time waiting for new boxes to be replenished, they were often scooped back into their box and sent to store.

Perhaps print off the third story & take it with you when you complain.

EDIT: may help if I paste a link: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/367879.stm

'McDonald's pleaded guilty to one count of selling food unfit for human consumption, and attributed the incident to human error....'

am going to threaten them with this me thinks if I don't get satifactory answer...and the chicken is in my bin 'til next tuesday if they want to have a look at it!

I have to say Tesco are pretty good at refunds etc. They would rather just give you a refund and be done with it, rather than argue it out.

As with food going on the floor in warehouses etc - This sort of thing goes on everywhere, including restaurants. I prefer to just be ignorant to it!!

:w00t: :w00t: That is so naughty!! I hope you charged them for the cost of the phone call as well..! Mind you, if I was a delivery driver and there was haribo around, I don't think I would last long in that job...mmmmm

It makes me mad too - but they do do it. They encourage us to shop online, and then you get rubbish food. Mind you , I am one of those people rooting around the shelves in store looking for the best date... especially with milk

Not sure how tesco work on the home shopping front, but i work at Asda on the home shopping dept and we are trained to ALWAYS pick the best dates that are on the shelf. Some things, like in the summer, our deliveries of strawberries only seemed to have either 1 or 2 days on them! Do we send them to the customer or not? Sometimes we have to make a decision .... Will the customer be having them for tea? do they want to save them and use them at the weekend? etc etc
#25
Have stopped internet shopping with tesco's for a while for that very reason, the fresh food was nearly all eat/sell by within a two day period of my delivery. I contacted customer services who asked me to go through all the affected items and credited my account.
asda from now on!

make sure you make a fuss-there must be a problem with their fridges as I know of about 5 people who have had dodgy chicken.
