I got a credit card a while back to use for bigger purchaes/online for safety in these uncertain times. Its my first time having a cc, so have a low credit limit. (I have no other debts). Anyway, I wanted to buy something which is just over my credit limit (£20 over). I called them to ask if they could raise credit limit and the girl said the only way to do that was to PAY the money I wanted to spend on the cc into my credit card account from a debit card. I did this expecting what I had paid to cover the purchase. I called back today as my boyfriend said thats not right what she told me and guess what - she lied!!!! Stupid Tesco credit card worker - she never told me yesterday that if I go over my credit limit even if I have the money in the cc account, I will have to pay a fee for doing that. The customer service lady today told me that I should pay the amount I have on my credit limit by the credit card and the rest by a different card (I am paying online, she told me to call Dixons). I am not happy! Tesco lied to me and now I have paid in money to my credit card account which I wont be able to use. I was told I can call back next week when the funds cleared from my debit card to the cc account and close the account, and that the money I paid in will be refunded in 3 - 4 weeks by cheque. Seriously this company is a joke!!!
Anyway, as I want all the money back I dont trust what they said today and I want to know if you can get money back from a credit card? I will be closing the account
