Has anyone had any problems with contaminated fuel at tesco? My car has just been towed away and the RAC have advised the fuel is cloudy and looks contaminated. They've had to tow car away as won't start! Don't have receipt only card transaction. Someone suggested CCTV as proof. Haven't used since Xmas day and won't turn over now.

Does your petrol cap not have a lock on it? I doubt most can be used as a toilet these days.

I got contaminated fuel when there was the big problem last time. Mine came from a Total garage. If it does turn out to be contaminated fuel, your credit card statement should be enough proof. My car went to the main dealer to be "fixed", then failed MOT on emissions. Had to be taken back to the main dealer to fix it properly.

It's a company car and RAC said in their experience they won't pay up they say it's driver error!!! Surely not! They said it will all need to be cleaned out but to request dealer get the fuel tested.
#6
well surely there would of been at least 100 or more cars effected in your area so it would be in your local paper, there cant be just 50 litres contaminatated fuel it would be the hole batch , so it might not be the fuel sorry

Wasn't in paper when happened before...and RAC said has happened in another local tesco and asda and hasn't been in paper...YET!

I know someone that had contaminated petrol from Tesco... They did get compensation for it in the end so make sure you pursue it if it does indeed turn out to be their wrongdoing.

Mmm you don't make sense - did it become contaminated in my car and not from the pump- don't think so. There have been few cases in tesco and asda I know of but haven't been in paper...

He/she does make sense - if the petrol is contaminated why are you the only one affected? You're already assuming it is the fuel.... It might not be.
Here is a thread from earlier this year that you might find helpful....

look you have not had it tested yet . so you need to do that asap and then you will no , there would of been loads of cars involved if there was contaminated fuel ,dont take the RAC s word!!!!!!!

Confirmed contaminated fuel! Seems tesco admitted liability to someone and paid repair and hire car costs. They seemingly filled the petrol container with diesel!! I've been quoted 8k to get car fixed!!

I don't suppose this happened in the chelmsford area?

Tesco paid out to a friend for repairs and car hire. They told her the diesel pump was put into the petrol store. I have had it confirmed by garage re the fuel and my company ate pursuing tesco today- haven't had update as yet. It was colinton in Edinburgh tesco.

She had a call from one of the directors at tesco and they are dealing with the whole thing for her. The garage was also shut for a few hours that day but didn't think anything of it at time...

We filled up with Diesel in Maidstone Kent, just befor XMAS same thing, went to Toyota and they said it was fuel contamination. Wrote letteres and phone Tesco and they said jog on.. No body else has a problem with the fuel.
#21
Think will be hard for them to deny this one as they have paid out to someone I know including hire car costs too.
#22
For all you doubters out there - tesco have told me something wrong when the tanker filled up at the garage that day which contaminated the fuel. They haven't quite got to the bottom of what happened though...
