Tesco misprice policy; different every time!

What is it with Tesco and their misprice policy?

I have known different Tesco stores (or different people at the same Tesco store) to doing the following:

1. Give you just the difference in price
2. Give you double the difference in price
3. Give you the product for free
4. Give you the product for free and the difference in price
5. Give you the product for free and double the difference in price
6. Just give you a refund and take the item back

Is there an offical policy and does any one else had the same experience as above??

Threy used to allegedly do 'get you money back and keep the item' but despite this they wouldnt give me my money back when I bought an xbox 360 and the game of the week and they charged me full whack instead of £20.00 off. They insisted on trying to just give me the game for free. I wrote to the main man at tesco and got trading standards on the scene.

Tesco did everything they could to wriggle out of it, saying the CCTV was too blurry and that 'someone' could have swapped the price tags around. Anyway, in the end all I got was a refund for the game. Trading standards are an absolute waste of space as they have no actual powers to enforce anything.

Now the policy is 'get double the difference back' although I was overcharged 20p on a 2litre diet coke the other day and only got the 20p back, so they seem to do as they please and noone can stop them and their false advertising.

I recently bought a USB cable to attach a printer, was on a clipstrip for 60p.
Got charged about £2.60, went to customer services and got a full refund & the cable for free.:thumbsup:

Seems like you were done again.

Double the difference refund would have seen you get a return of £4 (£2 overpayment * 2) for an outlay of £2.60 meaning you would be £1.40 in profit. Use this to purchase the 60p cable and you now have a free item + £0.80

Oh FFS! I know we Scots are supposed to be tight but i was quite happy with what i got.

Unlike a recent exp in ASDA where i tried to return a shredder that was faulty.
The sair-faced cow said as there was no makers name on it,i couldnt prove it was ASDA brand and therefore couldnt get a replacement.(sadly i had lost the receipt) it was abt 6mths old.
I went to the bin outside the store and dumped it in.
As i was needing bread, milk etc i went back in and lo & behold, there was the very same model in the stationery aisle.complete with ASDA box!!!
One quick bucket-rake later (much to the amazement of onlookers) and she had it on her counter again.I got a replacement and was told it was 'a goodwill gesture' and to keep the receipt.
I remember when ASDA had a no-quibble replacement guarantee on all electricals.
And staff that had a better attitude.
P.S. New shredder packed up too, couldn't be arsed taking it back again.
