i have an iphone payasugo with o2 but i want to move from o2 and use this tesco as a payasyou go, do i need to unlock my o2 iphone in order to use the tesco sim, also is it right that if you topup your tesco phone with £10 they make it £30? if so, whats the catch, seems too good a deal to be true? also can i keep my same number on this new tesco deal? or do i HAVE to get a new sim

there is no catch really altho the "free credit" only last a month-so you topup 20 quid, they triple it to 60,and the 40 quid free credit is used FIRST(hope I am explaining this ok) so when one month expires,if you still have some of the free credit left, you lose it but still have the original 20.

does that make sense?

makes sense to me.

And im pretty sure the i-phone will need unlocking

so all this extra credit is a good deal especially for a small amount of web browsing as you can use it for that plus phone calls , better value than paying o2 a tenner a month as i dont use it that much.

They piggy back on the o2 network but will still be classed as different company.

You will need to get it unlocked

probably right about the unlock BUT tesco mobile is 02 network,in fact if you buy a payg iphone from tesco, its already "set" to o2 and they give you the settings to change it yourself to tescoprepay for mms and web -also my wifes iphone(on tesco payg) shows 02 as the network on the home screen.

Tesco do you use the O2 network as Tesco mobile is joint venture between Tesco and O2, however just because you have an O2 sim dont mean to say that it will work in a Tesco branded phone vice versa.

I thought the same thing when I seen a Tesco Mobile phone that I wanted and bought it on sale, only to find that my O2 sim wouldnt work in it! Needless to say that I had to get the phone unlocked. :-(

Not advisable OP. You get no data allowance or internet. The costs are mad.....and you cant use the phone without it.

With a Freedom Pack, you turns a £10 TopUp into £50 worth of talk and texts - that's 100 minutes and 300 texts.

For £15 you'll get 200 minutes and 600 texts. And for £20, you get 300 minutes with 3000 texts.

That sounds awful to me!

I think they charge about £5 per megabyte. Dont say you weren't warned.

£5 a MB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tesco SIMs will not work on O2 locked mobiles but O2 SIMs will work on Tesco locked mobiles.

So, if you're planning on getting a Tesco SIM for a phone not bought from Tesco, you need to get it unlocked.

How long have they had that? I enquired with them less than a month ago. (I have a 3G iphone out of contract, unlocked with O2). They quoted me £5 per MB and she even admitted "I would look elsewhere if you want to use data on the iPhone" and kept trying to sell me a new iPhone so I could get data!

IF that is correct, then that is just robbery. I bought my GF one today from o2 with a years free internet ... but even so,she said after that it only cost a tenner a month for the bolt-on.

im still laughing at a possible £4 per mb.. whoa!

Tesco also do a flat rate sim called tesco lite....8p a minute and 4p a txt.
Their tripple credit is 20p a minute and 10p a txt or 5p a txt to 5 favourites.
