Apparently they started getting hit with large numbers of vouchers following something said on GMTV.

Tesco have taken other vouchers for years even store specific ones. I think they did at one point stop taking the store specific once before-few years ago.

There's now apparently a printed notice displayed in all stores as a result of a Head Office decision to stop taking vouchers unless you buy the item. Martin Lewis is taking a lot of flak for the decision.

Good, its about time people stopped viewing him as some type of god like creature.
He isn't as good as people make out, try's to take credit for other people's idea's, and on occasion can give costly wrong advice.

yep i work in tesco and when we log into the till its says we cant accept these anymore

Sounds pretty reasonable to me, how much of a tight git do you have to be to expect money off a product you haven't even purchased.

yes - he is a multi-millionaire from people thinking he is something he is not e.g. he has suggested taking 'free financial advice' and then applying through his site (where he gets a referral fee!) How sneaky is that?

I have always thought he was a bit extreme! He goes miles to save 2p-just my opinion though!

Isn't it funny that we all follow the advice Martin Lewis gives, including trotting off to Tesco and getting them to give us a discount for happening to possess a voucher from somewhere else, but as soon as the company change there policy Martin lewis is some hate figure.

The fact is we all chase a bargain, his web site has helped all of us save money, even if it's only a small amount, he can't be blamed if some of the opportunities get taken away. Yep he makes money from his web site, good for him, he had a bright idea and has exploited it, we've all benefited, now let's give him some slack and stop pointing the finger.

Just for balance, I don't watch his TV shows etc because I don't like his personal style, but that doesn't mean he has to become a figure of hate...if you don't like him, don't trust him or just fancy having a go for the sake of it then don't use his web site and don't access the bargains / vouchers etc that come on here that have been 'stolen' from his site! Often we see on here something that just appeared on his weekly newsletter and so let's not pretend we don't want that valuable information!

Be nice people...

Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with him making money from his site, but he should really give credit where its due. Look at how he crows about how much he helped people claim back in bank charges for example. I have never heard him mention or write about consumeractiongroup who were doing it a long time before him, and he got the information originally from.
I seem to recall him advising people to invest in icelandic banks too, and rubbished a few people on the forum who pointed out flaws in that advice.

Fair enough, if that's correct, but that hardly makes him responsible for the fact Tesco have changed their policy! He helped raise awareness of it for many people, that doesn't make him the enemy! I'm sure we can all be criticised for some things we do, but on the whole I think he is OK.

in a way it was his fault for publically saying that tescos will accept coupons
it was advertised by banners etc
but the real fact is -the abuse that came with it
people being greedy and getting their shopping for free

it also saw the demise of r+r

its not just mse though
you can relate to things on here
misprices etc and people filling their boots up
