Tesco refunds...

I need to return something bought in Tesco (not a Tesco branded product though) but I don't have the receipt. Don't normally shop in Tesco so what's their policy on refunds without a receipt? Will I get a gift card to the current value or will they just not refund? It cost £25 if that's of any relevance!

i returned a jacket to tesco last week, lost the receipt and they would only give me a credit despite it still being tagged

if its not branded and no receipt/proof of purchase they wont refund as you cant prove you bought it there

If you used a Clubcard and know when you bought it then the staff (if they are in a good mood) may go and get a copy of your transaction from upstairs otherwise because its not a tesco brand they have no obligation to refund im afraid :-( The staff in the St Helens store are really quite strict and will do anything to get out of the dtd refunds too grrr
Good luck though :)

I did pay by card, but the card statement is for more than the item as I bought a few things... Surely they won't accept that?!

i am not sure if they will refund u without the receipt, esp if its not their brand.
But i did try to get a refund for a tesco branded clothing item with tags and their own price tag but they said without the receipt, they would exchange it for some other clothing item but cannot refund. they used to do it before but have now changed their returns policy.

You can use you bank statement as they will match it up to the transaction on their till records and be able to see exactly what you bought and how much you paid

+1, but they may not offer a giftcard without PoP.

If you dont have proof they normally give you credit for that department, i.e if you bought say a hdmi cable you could only get something from the electricals section, if you got clothes it has to be the clothing section.

At least that was what 2 different stores told me.
