Tesco's - Do they think we are stupid?

Im absolutely sick of them now. How stupid do they think people are? Do they think we are blind and were not going to notice. I am talking about bumping the price of things up way above what you'd expect them to do.

I know VAT has risen by 2.5% and yes fuel costs more now but how do they justify putting the price up by 20% to 25% for no reason other than greed. I thought things would of gone up by 3% to 5% but theyre taking the pee now.

Its not just the price, ive seen the packs of things going smaller too but the price stays the same, like your not going to notice.

A bottle of medicated stuff from Tesco Pharmacy - Used to be 99p now its £1.19.

Pack of mints used to be 99p for 4. They took a whole pack out so its now 99p for 3.

Orange juice packs, cant remember the price but they taken one out so you only get 3 now instead of 4.

I know this is only a small example, and you lot will no doubt have noticed way more than this, but they've had it with me now.

I WILL NOT BE SHOPPING IN TESCO ANY MORE THEY CAN KISS MY BLEEP!

Anyone else noticed the massive increase?

The ONLY times I've shopped at Tesco was when the tomato glitch was live. Prices are so high compared to Asda.

F Tesco

i stopped shopping there years ago, then just recently the double the difference thing, i tried that out once only to find the items i had bought most of which were showing as n/a on website so ended up over paying, serves me right for trying to take advantage ;)

So is the OP saying they don't like Tesco any more :-/

Do you not think Asda, sainsbury's and Morrisons all put their prices up so next week they can 'SLASH' them down to the original. You must be naive to think Tesco's are unique in doing this.

I find it quite funny shopping every week noticing certain prices creeping up and up and then BOOM out come the big dispalys and stickers saying how much they have 'knocked off''. Customers are very stupid sometimes and get drawn into these 'deals' even though they are manufactured.

I dare say hundreds of deals on here are exactly the same.

They have that price check website. But when you get the results back they only compare against things they know they are cheaper on! I got my receipt check back and 3/4 of the items could not be compared! robdogs!

Every little helps.

It helps Tesco.

I hate the company.

everywhere is cutting sizes etc. Like the alcohol deals recently, everyone was comparing them to a few years ago when there were either more cans/bottles per crate or the size were a few ml more than they are now.

Its happening everywhere not just tesco, it will be happening on items you buy and ones you dont even give a second look to.

It's called inflation methinks...

... at least we (consumers) didn't all abandon the smaller local shops in favour of cut price supermarket bargains else they would have all been forced out of business and we would now have no choice but to pay whatever the supermarkets ask.... oh wait..... Darn!

No I dont expect just tesco to be doing this, but it just makes me think ive got to change the way I shop and do it now, and so I will.

There are two ways of shopping trawling round all the different shops getting each cheapest product or get the lot from one shop and live the few quid more you maybe paying for that privelige. Personally given the price of fuel and the time it would take I'll carry on going to the one shop for all. It is Asda but I'm not stupid enough to think that they don't manipulate prices to their benefit.

Asda, warning "roll back" also means prices go up as well as down

If its a big shop then tend to stick to Asda, if its a small shop, will go to Sainsburys which is closer - not too much difference I think, but Asda is cheaper for cleaning products. Always prefer M&S and Waitrose for meat. Never ever buy that from Tesco!

You mean sometimes things aren't what they seem?

Interesting...............

I was in Sainsburys the other day and noticed how they seem to have hiked prices up too. Milk for instance was £1.35 , I would normally get it at Lidl's for a quid . The only reason I shop at the supermarkets every now and then is for the cheap beer deals . I'll stop that too before long as I'm starting the homebrew again .
We are really being stung now ,there is hardly anything left out of my wages after paying all the bills and to make matters worse ................I'm redundant in August .

here's the story of where they launched a price cut campaign in Ireland, but most of the prices were still more expensive than pre-christmas because of recent increases

I hate most supermarkets, what happened to brand choice?

In Tesco, it's either Tesco brand or nothing, and most of their stuff is such poor quality.

Same mostly with the rest..
#32
Iceland are the same, one item is the Mature Cheddar cheese slices, they are the perfect size for toasted sarnies lol Anyway, there used to be 8 in a pack now there are 6 and they are the same price.

They are all at it X)

Picked up packet of crisps in Asda over weekend - marked at 2 for £2.50 ... looked closely to see what the price of 1 pack was ... and it was £1 !!

i noticed yesterday that their milk used to be 2 bottles (4 pints per bottle) used to be 2 for £2, its now 3 for £3, which, works out the same, but, at 2 for £2 i would of bought 4, but at 3 for £3 im not buying 6!!! so, they lost money from me, and im sure a fair few other people too.

It's a pound for four pints at Iceland if you have one near you.
