Earlier on today, i had 2, tried to take them back - both from orders well over £25. Only bought them, like most people to get free delivery

Thought id pop along to both tescos, didnt want to return them both to 1 store as it might raise suspision lol.

1st store, took it off me, gave me a refund, no questions asked.

2nd store - she said, i had somebody trying to do this yesterday - and rang up tesco direct :? so im stood there feeling all embarrased  and, they said, if i want to return it i have to pay for delivery of the rest of the goods :x

Hows everyone else getting along?

well as with all things human i can only guess it's hit and miss

Yep - the first and only time I tried this the woman walked off with my invoice for a good 5 minutes before finally coming back and giving me my money. The first thing she saw when I gave her the invoice was the "free devliery with sims" - maybe the trick is to not take your invoice, just your order number on scrap of paper or something.
#3
embarrassing!

Havent used that trick myself, and dont think I will now as they seem to be getting wise to it!

Hmmm, how will this work?
As id still like to take this other sim card i have back - its no use to me - and binning it seems silly - id give it away, but when it has "tesco value sim" on it, id look a right cheap skate!

Im considering ripping the bit that says "free delivery on sim cards" off! So then im just left with the top bit.
The woman earlier studied the bill though and must have seen it, and still gave me the £3.47 back!

Actually, ive just had an idea - could take it back saying ive lost my recipet - does anyone know if ill get store credit or something? its better than nothing!
#6
Did it once, never again.

Got made to feel awful about it, funny looks, whispering in corners...then they told me they'd just need to get security, he came over and was asking all sorts of questions, then he got a machine thing to check the sim was still actually in the box. Eventually got my refund, but after a good 10 minutes of pure humiliation.

I would ring up and ask them to collect it - but its a pain having to wait in all day for them to come and pick them up!

I felt like a right criminal today when i went to the 2nd store!
Think im gona pop back to the other one later on tonight, as ive forgot some things anyway.
Does anyone know what happens when you return without a recipet? As im guessing this is easier than getting caught out with the free delivery thing again!
I dont mind store credit (as i know this is what asda do) Also, does anyone know if they sell these sims instore? as i didnt think to look - and i dont want to say i bought it online lol.

Slight pain as ive got another coming next week that i also dont want lol!

Right, ive just come off the phone to tescos (rang there freephone customer services number) apparantly, you can take things back to store, and get a refund even without a recipet ;)

I said to him i didnt mind even recieving store credit - and he said, no itll be a refund :giggle:

Will update how it goes later on!
Ive got my fingers crossed!

Eek. What sort of questions were they asking you?

Like you say, not worth the hassle. Obviously they're totally within their rights to then ask for delivery to be paid.

Don't think tearing bits off your receipt or losing the receipt will do you any favours. If you want to try that just walk into a store and pick up a telly and tell them you want to bring it back but have lost your receipt. Think they'll get security then! They don't sell it in store with the credit as far as I know. I think they sell the one without the credit though so you could've just picked one up off the shelf if you've lost your receipt!

Fortunatly, at my tescos, the customer service desk is as you walk in - so i doubt ill be accused, after all, its only a low value item aswell - if it was a £100 product then fair enough :giggle:

Im off to give it a shot tonight, ive got nothing to lose, as i need to pop in anyway.
#12
:giggle: just send someone else to do it - and dont tell them the trouble you have had!

I doubt they'll be happy to hand over cash for something you could've just picked up from the store. From my experience they should try to find your receipt on the back office. With Tesco direct they'll probably do something similar and look at your order, there by making it pointless to lose your receipt.

Bet your bottom dollar that most of them will know it's a trick to get free deliver so expect them to either try to waste your time or make you look silly!

I intend on saying my partner bought it ;-)

Besides, they wont make me look silly, as i wont be saying i bought it online - ill say i bought it instore, plus, i of course, paid cash.

Jesus, chill out. Ive already took one back and got a refund, wont be hard to do it again!

Oh, and i checked the tesco direct book - it doesnt mention free delivery - so i doubt they will know!

When did you buy it?

You should be expected to say within a couple of hours of when you bought it. Where was it bought? This store?

Well, that's funny sir. I can't find any of those on the system bought at that time!

Also watch out that they might be different barcodes/packaging design instore. They might know that you bought it on-line! They'll probably be expecting you to say that it was bought on-line as I expect that they get loads returned.

Well, ive just returned home, from the store which refunded me for one earlier on :whistling:

I said i had no recipet and that id bought it last week :whistling:

I said "i dont want a refund as i accept you cant do this, would it be possible to have store credit instead please"
She had a look how much it was on the till then said "do your shopping, and before you go to the check out come back here, and ill minus £3.47 off your bill"

Its a small store anyway, so when i went back, she put all my shopping through for me anyway.

So yes, actually, i did get my money back - not in my hand - but deducted off my shopping, which im more than happy with.

I think, ill just bin the sim card i get next week, not worth the hassle, plus i remembered to do quidco on that order so ill let that one slide, got a refund for 2/3 so not bad going

Good luck to you guys who do try and return these, i wont be doing it again

All that for £6.94, your time and petrol must have been more.

Did you use your clubcard for the stuff you bought in the store? Bet you did so it comes up on your account you bought 2, returned 2.

Don't shop in Tesco's any more, they know too much about me, you should see the stuff that falls through the door asking me to do this and come back etc, big brother or what :whistling:

Yeah i used my clubcard, as it was bought online.
Im not returning the 3rd though, so wont show up i sent all of them back :giggle:

Ah well, not sure what theyll do, but i know others do worse than me :giggle:

I didnt have anything better to do, and needed to go to Tesco's anyway, so i wouldnt say im out of pocket :)
Plus, its only about a mile away, so the petrol wont have been much :)

Im never trying to pull a fast one like this again, if i do, ill be keeping the stuff!
Like if i need to order from Tesco Direct again, ill buy the sim, but keep it!
Nightmare!

After a pm, ive decided to give the remaining sim, and anymore i should get to a charity shop :)

Seems like a plan, still makes it cheaper than delivery i guess :)

Personally I find the best option is to get the one with a tenner credit and sell it on ebay. They generally sell for about a fiver so after fees you still get delivery from Tesco for like a quid. Better than nothing.

For some reason I actually sold one the other day for a tenner! People don't realise that Tesco sell them for a fiver!

Never had any problems at all returning these, and i take them to the same store, with my staff discount too....and no i don't know any of the staff at this store.........i always take my Tesco direct invioce with me.
I don't even give them a reason........if i had any hassle i would ask for duty manager too.....he'll tell staff to refund it asap,as he has enough to deal with than a fund of £3.47......i've seen flowers returned as they did'nt last 7 days.....and they had been use.lol.....:giggle:

Tesco are usually very good at these sort of things....but as in life theirs always 1........believe me, when i finish work and go to buy a bargain reduced, even the checkout operaters comment on how come you found this!!!!! loudly......OMG!!! I'm a customer when i clock out.......as i said theres always 1
#22
:giggle: as i said they actually rang up tesco direct on me

Im not doing it again, not worth it for £3.50 - ive had loads of bargains out of them with this clearance theyve had!
