Have you tried viewing text only, or won't it load up at all?

No it loads...just as soon as it does my laptop hangs. Can't do anything at all and have to do a hard boot.

Just googled and there's a short thread on apple support website. Seems like it is a known problem (Java related) but Tesco have not fixed...Baaaaah!

Loads fine on my Mac

Mine too

Hmmm. Seems to be only happening with my macbook not my imac. Very strange.

Tesco just rang and said that that they know about the problem and their IT people are looking into it as part of a larger update to the website. A big multi-national calling a little old consumer? What ever next?!
#8
Loads fine on mine :) have you tried another browser?

Create a new user on your Mac then switch tot hat user and try the site. If it works fine then there is an issue with your settings/pref files in your user volume. If it still has an issue then it's a system folder issue.

That should help you to know where to look and start removing user/system files and folder (copy them somewhere else first though!!)

I often have problems with scripts that freeze Firefox. It also interferes with my main design applications as it randomly corrupts the shortcut keys (known problem).
#11
Loads fine on mine too.

I DO have exactly the same problem!!! I have just googled it and come up with this thread. Every time I go onto Tesco Direct and do searches on there, the whole thing freezes permanently and I have to force safari to quit. It is extremely frustrating as I use tesco a lot for stuff. I am trying to look at their greenhouses to compare prices and having no luck all night 8-(
It has been like this for a few months with just this site. No problems at all otherwise.
It is really baffling.

Yep, Im still having the problem Tesco said they were aware of 'a problem' and said it would be fixed. Nothing has happened though. It is indeed baffling!

By the way. It seems to be Safari related. 'Firefox' works fine as far as I can see. Go get it, it's a free download.

I too have a problem with the imac and macbook but the ipad is fine... very very wierd!! I try to avoid it but working for them and getting discount on everything makes it difficult!!
#16
I have exactly the same problem on my macbook. only on tesco does it freeze. why havent they fixed it yet.
#17
yep..my macbook keeps freezing as well..very frustrating!!

Hi - Just did a search and came across this. Having exactly the same problem with my i-mac - but also my new Windows 7 laptop (have to have both as I teach both systems :3). The problem isn't quite as bad on Windows 7, but it still takes an age to load each page I navigate to.
I have just emailed Tesco to inform them, so will be interested to see if I get any response from them.
I think it's bad that such a high-profile company has a website that quite a few people can't use!
#19
Same, my MacBook goes onto the site fine, then loading site comes up, freezes and crashes grr!
#20
My Macbook crashes everytime I search for anything on the tesco direct website, the grocery and entertainment websites works fine.
#21
Not checked my macbook but it happens on my iphone 3gs!!
#22
My iPhone has problems with tescos website
#23
Yep same for me guys, crashes the Macbook, mac mini and the iphone, come on Tesco!
#24
Why does everyone blame Tesco? I can browse Tesco just fine on a free OS and free browser - and you know what - it just works®, so perhaps a slight finger of blame should be directed towards the holier-than-thou-do-no-evil Apple in this case?

Hi yes this is driving me mad; every time I try to view anything that tesco sells {i'm surfing for christmas presents for the kids} it freezes my Mac and often takes 10 minutes to Force Quit. I have recently logged on before before I realised it is was Tesco site; but I buy lots of shopping from Tesco in person, used the clubcard sites a lot to swap vouchers. Would love to order on line but not posible Have complained in store and tried to email but to no avail. Cant use Tesco home delivery from Mac either
#29
works fine for me?

Bizarre! Never had a problem before on either our PC or laptop but our brand new mac using safari hates it - same as everyone else just freezes browser.

Sure could be a mac problem (and yes, very funny those of you suggesting ditching mac and going to pc - no ta!) but if it is known by Tesco I am sure it could be fixed! If it is known by apple could they have suggested a fix also?

I will investigate and see. In the mean time back to the pc it is (ho hum!)

I'm still having the problem. Strangely it only seems to significantly effect my macbook not my imac. Tesco told me they'd look into...I even got an initial phone call...then nothing. They know something is wrong and either can't be bothered or can't fix it.

Be interested if you find a fix.

I have a Macbook and have the same problem (using Safari). It is only with Tesco Direct, I do my grocery shopping on Tesco.com fine. I wish it would get fixed, I want to take advantage of the 50% off toy sale and voucher exchange! Not got my hopes up though.

Even if there is a problem with the website. it shouldn't crash the browser, clearly that is a problem with Safari... Try a different browser.
#34
We have the same problem with safari so we have to remember to use a different browser when we want to look on the Tesco site (we're using google chrome and that is fine) Or i just use the PC :)
#35
Hi, yes having the same problem, my Apple Mac laptop just does not like Tesco Direct, thinks about it for 10 minutes then freezes, can't close page, won't do anything, not even force quit, only way i can do anything is to hold my finger on the off button. arghhhhhhhh, still no fix it for this problem on any website.
#36
I have same problem, every time I go to Tesco direct my computer freezes, I have just googled this problem and found this, have been searching for Christmas presents and they are often the cheapest but unable to check it our. Really don't know what to do next it appears that others have tried and failed.
#37
Same problem on my macbook, totally freezes. But I only have this problem with Tesco's web site, very annoying.
#38
Same problem on my imac, freezes the entire screen must force safari to quit to reuse the computer again. It first happened a few months ago, and it just happens again! Very disappointed to such a website by Tesco !!!!!
#39
Yep same thing happens to me on imac and i work for tesco so dont buy online from them buy the way argos web site is fine vote with your feet
#40
Same problem here, happens on two macbooks and one brand new macmini, all full patched and up to date. Has Tesco responded to the others on here who have contacted them, probably not as their are completely arrogant and don't really give a monkeys about their customers.
