I go to Tescos every week and have found stuff creeping up! Their own brand sweets have gone up about 30p per bag...and other stuff around their store. I mean it could be fuel prices etc but ASDA and other places can still keep low prices...maybe other stuff is still the same price and im not buying the stuff thats still cheap.

There was a similar thread a week or so ago

Basically, prices for transporting the food, fixed costs in manufacturer (energy), and the prices of ingredients are going up.

The supermarkets have been trying to keep prices down as people don't want to pay for food, but it seems its times like these that it all starts to catch up with us.

I have numerous friends who have been made redundant in the food industry because of the current problems.

It would help considerably if there wasn't so much tax on diesel fuel (the higher the price of diesel, the more it costs to transport goods to the shops).

But there's little chance of fuel tax being reduced, since 'Prudence' Brown and his lapdog Darling have got the country's finances in a right old state and are desperate for income - never mind that the working class are finding it increasingly difficult to manage.

its called the credit crunch

If they stopped wasting money with these stupid oooo were cheaper than asda ads they could cut prices

asda bacon - march (checked old receipt - was 94p - now £1.54 - over one third hike -

Yeh, I've noticed it with Tesco's too. It's not just creeping though, more like slap bang - we gotcha!!

I'm only touching Value stuff in Tesco generally, shopping at Lidl for other stuff. Sharing the cost of petrol between those of us who are living here when we go shopping as we've decided to do it all at once.

Yep the price of everything's on the rise, but there are still deals to be had if you keep an eye out for them.

i went tesco yet and they stopped doing loads of their tesco value products. not out of stock as no space on shelf for it.

no value tuna
no value chopped toms
etc.

reckon they just putting there value stuff into their own brand tins, and own band into their finest to make it look like their prices arent going sky high. its pretty scary

Dont be fooled into thinking asda aint doing it mate, they are cleverer thats all, alan leighton was the boss there and hes a clever bloke (replace clever with sneaky or backstabbing or plain untrustworthy if you like) , i noticed things like....stuff that used to be 3 for £2 all the time, is now 2 for £3 , subtle and a lot of people wont notice.

all supermarkets are at it

now its hard to find (decent) bread under 1.00
i remember when i was at uni having a coupon for tesco egg so being students we bought the cheapest eggs only to be told the voucher wouldnt work under 80p when the eggs were less than that..try finding 6 eggs for less than that now!
tesco mince-doubled in price thought its starting (slightly) to fall in price

^This is true, at least in some aspects. Take the washing up liquid for example, this stuff is non-existant in my Tesco now and the nearest alternative is about 70p more.

They are, however, apparently introducing 'Value' back elsewhere in their stores to compete with Lidl and Aldi, now everyone's off there to save some £££.

It is not just the fuel cost that is making everything expensive - The rice shortage is having a bigger affect on all the food prices.
#21
Yup - i've noticed it increasingly over the past few weeks. And like the Summer hols aren't expensive enough...
#22
i've seen in asda an item i used to buy everytime i went shopping "rolled back" ( was 59p) to 69p:?

go figure that one surely theres a law that is being broken here:x thats blatant lying:roll:

Yeah have noticed the price hikes as well..not just Tesco though..all of them are at it. Have you noticed though they don't put up the prices such as 10p or 25p at a time but they are doing it in penny stages...thinking we won't notice..huh we ain't that stupid!!.

Also talking of food..have noticed also many of my local restaurants are now resorting to dropping leaflets door to door these days..never had so many leaflets through my letterbox..and noticed most of the restaurants are now doing eat as much as you want buffets..which most never really done in my home town..time must be difficult for them also I guess.
