Test how old your ears are - Ulta sonic Ringtones - Try it!

These tones are designed for school kids to use as their ringtones because as we get older, we lose the ability to hear very high pitch tones, thus the teacher can not hear the kids phones going of in class.
On the other hand, the tones are being played to disperse groups of youths in shopping centers etc (Think they call it a mosquito device) You do feel a little queasy listening to them.

Mark which tone you can hear then "Get Results Now"
I can just hear the D#

I couldn't hear any apart from the ones that don't have any letters at the start. I must be gettin old, lol:oops:

i could hear the E 21.1kHz

That hurt my ears. The only one I couldn't hear was the top one - 22.4kHz. My son couldn't hear the 22.4kHz one, either - he's 12. I don't know if it's psychological, but even though I didn't hear anything at 22.4kHz, it made me feel ill when I pressed play on it. I'm 35, by the way. OH can hear 18.8kHz,...he's 37. Just wanted to add that having done it again, anything above 17.7kHz makes me feel really, really sick. Not doing that again.

How old are you? As said, I'm 35 and I hear all but that top F. The higher range ones make me feel really sick and I can't listen to them again.

14.1kHz and that's it. My OH has hearing loss in both ears & wears hearing aids - she couldn't hear any of them.
#15
Im 17 and could only hear up to 17.7KHz (C#)

So does this mean my hearing is quite bad?

Lol! Hope it doesn't bite :p

I could hear all but the last one (though I could hear something when I put my head against the speaker for F...may just be the vibrations though!)

That last one doesn't exist...it plays nothing when you press that. Try to click it to see what result it gives you for it...you'll see what I mean.

All but the last. Does anyone else get annoyed by the sound of a telly on stand by?

I definitely hear it, and it's a higher pitch to the one below it...it's very faint, though.

The last one is a snippet of John Cage's 4'33''.

The best bit of John Cage's 4' 33" is when the piano lid gets slammed shut.

hi all,
sorry to bring up a bit of an old post but....

have problems with 'youths' hanging around down the side of my house, and get a load of cheek when i ask them to move on.

If i played the one of these type of tones loudly through some sort of speaker would it be likely to have the same effect as one of these :

?

just an idea:thumbsup:

I heard 17.7kHz, which apparently meant I could "hear the frequency of the mosquito teen repellent - but probably not for much longer!" That's pretty good, seeing as I shouldn't have been hearing anything like as high as that at my age. :)
