Just wanted to say thank you to peodude for recommending this printer, I picked it up today from argos and am really pleased with it. If anyone else if looking for a printer i totally recommend this now too as it delivers good quality prints, ink is cheap, it looks good and performs well.

Ive never had a brother printer before ive had HP & Epson but Brother have set new standards. Hopefully it lasts long but it just seems better built than my previous epson which broke down after 7mths.

I love the paper drawer rather than having to put the paper in the top of the machine u put it in a paper tray just like a professional printer. Also the ink is so easy to change from a compartment on the front rather than having to lift the whole upper half of the machine.

It gets 10/10 from me so far, thank you again peodude, i would have never bought it without your recommendation.

No problems at all, glad you found the advice useful :)

I too decided switched to brother after my Lexmark, which i didn't even bother buying new cartridges for after the originals ran out. With this, i can print freely without feeling the repercussions of extortionate ink prices :-D

The only thing that threw me was the unusual positioning of the usb connector, inside the machine :w00t:

I purchased some black inks from that site for this printer when it was omn a deal last time but when i tried to replace the black it would not clip in.In the end i had to get the original cartridge filled has anybody had this problem with the black cartridge i still have it and could put a picture up so you can see if there is anything different with mine.

Maybe it was just a duff cartridge, at that price level I'm sure they'll be one or two. Is the cartridge the right one? Does it say your model number on there?

I've never heard anyone else with any complaints, and the printer has been coming up on deals regular the last few months, and no mention of problems. My sister also has this printer and i think she has replaced the black cartridge with one from that site already, with no issues.

Rymans have the MFC-235C for £48.99, and a DCP-145C for £40

The 235 definitely takes the cheap cartridges, but you'll have to check the 145 on www.ink.co.uk

Which one would you recommend ? I have an Epson and it started printing and copying only half a page so would like to change brand. Thanks for your help.
