It says no multiple entries, but how could they stop that, surely they can't check every entry,so won't people just leave comments under newly created ID's or am i missing something?

They can probably see the IP address of the poster

There is no way they can stop multiple entries, even if they do it by IP addresses.
Pretty stupid competition again from them.

Yeah but surely they wouldn't have the time or inclination to check every post.

But with thousands of entries they're not going to check every one........so I reckon there will be quite a few mulitple entries and they aren't likely to be caught but Dealspwn can't really say that........

Not often I agree with you DK, but the HUKD group of sites are pretty naff at running competitions. Every one has been flawed in some way.

Wait until the Christmas Comp on here appears then you'll see all the "dormant" multi accounts jump back into use.....

But with regards to the Dealspwn comp with (probably) thousands of entries you'd have to create 20 or 30 entries to make any real difference to your chances. E ven with 30 entries out of 3000, you're still only going to have a 1 in a hundred chance of winning. End of the day you're still going to need an enormous amount of luck....

I've heard these things called computers can automate boring tasks like this.

(debz is talking crap, but the other replies re: using other ip addresses are valid - its impossible to lock it down properly)

I've seen people on those Currys threads etc generating hundreds of email addresses,so i'm sure those types of people will think nothing of creating new id's for a comp.

All fun and games huh

they couldn't care less how many multiple entries they recieve as long as it boosts the traffic to their sites.

Yeah even that Twitter one they done not long ago, i'm sure most people simply created like 20 new Twitter accounts for that.
I would say a good way to do a competition is to use a HUKD thread, therefore we know who is a legit member and who has signed up for lots of multis. Also with the added bonus of a HUKD member actually winning a prize.

Surely they don't need to check them all either. They can just pick a winner then check that one to see if it's a multi.

but the idea is to increase the number of people using their sites and get their name out in the big bad world not give some fat housewife a xbox 360 just because she sits in misc for 16 hours a day.

Not sure what happens, however you only really need to be interested in the winning entry and use that as the basis for checking linked accounts/multiple entries, rather than pour over all the unsuccessful entrants.

so the winning entry will have their ip address, twitter account, subscription emails and whatever other piece of info you have to give to win checked and cross referenced with every other single entry to make sure that they never enterred more than once.

A couple of them were flawed but generally they were okay and at least its good that they do have competitions. I'd rather see them do a naff competition than not do competition at all......

The only thing I really didn't like was the first 5 correct entries one. They should have perhaps let it run for an hour then choose 5 winners from the correct answers....

Not sure, I just gave a general opinion on what might need to be considered. Better asking them over at Dealspwn if you're that interested in finding out. I wouldn't expect anyone to divulge though, as it offers an insight on how to evade.

Yeah not all housewifes are fat, because you can chain them to the ironing board and then they can't get to the kitchen.

what's your point? I make some glib off the cuff remark about a fat housewifewho spends 16 hours a day on here winning a xbox 360 and you start chirping in.

Have I hit a nerve on your weight, your career choice or the amount of time you spend on here?

I would take the comment for what it was and stop having an emoticon filled fit.oO

I say it a lot because this place is full of them, you'll also have seen me mention the mentalists, the racists and the bored horny not so fat but equally as sad housewives yet you chose to pick up on the fat housewife who spends 16 hours a day competition winner comment.

hmmm.

I despair.
