I consider myself to have a fairly broad musical taste but the fab four just leave me cold.

So those of you who didn't like their music - how old are you and what other songs of the 1960's are you comparing it to?

So basically motown and brit-pop/rock (which pulls its influences from the likes of The Beatles !!)

So Yesterday and Love Me Do sound the same? I mean it's all well and good to use stock phrases that denigrate the oeuvre of an artist, but at least choose appropriate ones.

The Beatles have more influence on world music than any other band / group that's ever existed.

I agree, much of it has dated, but thats pioneers for ya.

Do any of these sound like Eurovision entries ?

I'm from Liverpool too.
Can't you all see how amazingly brainy and how much effort was taken to come up with lyrics such as, "She loves you, yeah yeah yeah, she loves you, yeah yeah yeah, she loves you, yeah, yeah yeah yeah" ? So deep and thought provokng.

If that was the only song they had recorded you might have a point, and even then a very poorly argued point. It isn't though and it also belies a large amount of ignorance of the structure of songs such as Penny Lane.

I'd advise watching this show that Howard Goodall did that touches on (if I remember correctly) the complexity of some of their songs and the use of classical styles.

Except no. I mean, even on a factual basis they aren't even close to the importance of The Beatles.

just for you as you appear not to have listened to the song properly

Chorus:
She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah
She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah
She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Verse #1
You think you lost your love,
Well, I saw her yesterday.
It's you she's thinking of
And she told me what to say.

Bridge:
She says she loves you
And you know that can't be bad.
Yes, she loves you
And you know you should be glad.

Verse #2
She said you hurt her so
She almost lost her mind.
But now she said she knows
You're not the hurting kind.

Bridge:
She says she loves you
And you know that can't be bad.
Yes, she loves you
And you know you should be glad. Ooh!

Chorus:
She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah
She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah
And with a love like that
You know you should be glad.

Verse #3
YOU KNOW it's up to you,
I think it's only fair,
Pride can hurt you, too,
Apologize to her

Bridge:
Because she loves you
And you know that can't be bad.
Yes, she loves you
And you know you should be glad. Ooh!

Chorus:
She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah
She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah

Bridge:with a love like that
You know you should
Be Glad!

Bridge:with a love like that
You know you should
Be Glad!

Bridge:With a love like that
You know you should
be glad!

Ending:
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah Ye-ah.

Are any of Take That capable of playing a musical instrument ?

Both appealed to the equivalent teeny-bopper demographic of their time.

Both were massively overhyped by the media of the day.

My comparison stands.

Gary Barlow can play piano and is a good song writer. But comparing them to The Beatles would embarrass even the biggest Take That fan.

Only if you ignore the cultural importance, the worldwide appeal of The Beatles especially in America, the influence on notable bands of their time and subsequently, the critical success of the band etc.

I mean you could compare the moon to a teapot if you were to ignore the facts.

Well if you said that Miles Davis was white then I'd take the opposite view. It's nothing personal, you're just wrong.

The statement was designed to be tongue in cheek, as usual you've taken the bait.

Someone could tell you the sky is blue and you'd argue the point, you're getting pretty boring now.
