Since meeting my partner a year and a half ago I've done a lot more travelling, including visiting a few places over the UK. We've often made weekends out of otherwise formal situations (such as visting unis) and driven right up and down the UK, staying in Travel Inns and the like.
In March my birthday present was a trip to the Isle of Wight, taking my car on the Wight Link ferry and staying in a B&B for the weekend. We stayed in Moortown, by Brighstone in a somewhat little-known place called Moortown B&B. The owners of the cottage basically have a smaller cottage next to theirs which they use to rent to vistors. It was by far the best place we've stayed in - such a nice atmosphere, 4 poster bed (most comfortable thing I've ever slept in), the whole little cottage to ourselves, the biggest breakfasts imaginable and absolutely fantastic hosts we spent 2 hours chatting to about the Island after breakfast! The little touches were amazing such as constantly having a supply of drinks / snacks / chocolates, always having the cottage cleaned when we went out and so much info given to us about the Island.
I can't see any other accomodation we stay at in the future topping Moortown B&B.
So I pose the question - what's the best Hotel or Bed & Breakfast you've stayed at? I guess it doesn't have to be in the UK, though naming a good UK place would be good!
I'll post some pics in my next post.
