Hi all, my dads birthday is coming up and I want to buy him a sat nav, but I don't know what are good brands/models and what are bad ones.

- I want to spend under 100 pounds.
- Is that possible
- Can anyone recommend me any?

Thanks all

Hi, in my experience, the "brand" of satnav, isnt as crucial as the cost and availability of maps and updates etc...
Meaning dont go straight for the tomtom just BECAUSE its a tomtom ;)

you can get cheap with a binatone one and then "upgrade" it with the Tom Tom software.

Navman are also very good.

TomTom's are best

tomtom software is excellent ill give u that, but ive had an old trumpion, outlive a tomtom in the hardware steaks

never heard of trumpion. stick with Tom Tom the menu system is easy to follow, they have full postcode recognition, they are used by most satnav users on the road and they are available for less than £100 from Amazon

Actually found one at The Range for £64.99 + £4.95 delivery

Hi
I am looking for a SAtnav for Europe that good update facilities, inc price

I borrowed a TOMtom last week new last Xmas. found some of the instructions confusing in fact we took the wrong motorway at one point due to tow exits in close proximity, and needing to concentrate due to amount of traffic/drivers
At another point it said take the exit and take the exit, luckily I knew that bit of road, but if I was using it without this knowledge I would have been LOST.

I have previously used a Nissan built in Satnav, that said when it was re-routing you the tom tom did not.

Any help and tips gratefully received
