So, after watching it last night I've come to a conclusion that the Dark Knight is 'Excellent but...'

...Theres something wrong about it but I cant put my finger on it, maybe its the long running time or the jokers screen time...

Anywho - your thoughts if you've watched it?

I loved it except Batman's voice and towards the end of the film I got the feeling they was trying to put a message across that I wasn't getting, maybe it was because it was getting late
#2
The 2 worst things - Maggie Gyllenhall is no Katie Holmes and Batmans voice.
#3
it looks brilliant but i still dont think itl top the original batman film all those years ago

I don't think they can (or should) be compaired - different films for a different time - although i'm wondering who was the better Joker...

Heath Ledger is the best joker.

I'm surprised I actually think Katie Holmes can't act to save her life.

I loved it. Love love love. Batman's voice is funny...but sexy. Haha. I think Heath Ledger made an amazing joker and was pretty disturbing to the point of being a bit uncomfortable at some points. Now someone take me to see it again, quick!
#8
havent seen it yet, so cant compare.

also you can compare the 2 films as batman in 89 was a very dark batman aswell i dont think ano toher 2 could possibly be compared

True...They did try to put a message across................:?

Slick film as per usual with any new action film these days, but its just another Comic Book adaption nothing special. But they will hype Heath Ledger's performance only because he is dead and everyone wants to appear respectful to point of Oscar nominations which it wasn't anything near. OK film but hasn't raised the bar.

Heath Ledger's performance was brilliant and it is not about being respectful - I understand the Hollywood sentimentality - I dunno about winning an Oscar but his performance easily warrants a nomination

I didn't think 'I should like it because he died' - that thought did not cross my mind when I was watching the film - I watched the best portrayal of the joker and one of the best villains you will see on screen

Just wasn't worthy IMO, seen much better.

fair enough - I do agree that it shouldn't be given because he is dead and I know that will have an impact

Agreed - it was a good performance but I don think he should get one for being dead.
#14
Even if he was alive I would say his peformance was oustanding!!

Now you see the pencil and now you dont!!!!!!!!! Taaaaaa Daaaaa :p (Whoever seen it wiill know)!!

Are you insane?

The 2 Batmans by Nolan are by far the best batman adaptations ever and thats coming from an uber batman fan.

The 1989 and others were simply popcorn entertainment. They didn't capture the essence of what Batman is all about. They were good but not like the Nolan stories.

Heath is the better Joker....by a long shot. Jack was a good campy/fun joker - Heath was psychotic, sadistic and far more entertaining.

Nothing special?

Its an amazing movie that doesnt even feel like a comic book movie...thats the true beauty of it. You can actually imagine a Batman in todays society with that style of filming.

And no Heaths death isn't the cause of his phenomenal acting portrayal of the joker. If he was alive, he'd still deserve an Oscar for that performance.

The movie has grossed $314 million in just 10 days!!!! Already the highest grossing movie this year and is currently ranked at number 24 of the highest grossing movies of all time. If anything can beat Titanic, this is it!

The only thing i would've liked to have seen was a more explosive ending. A better showcase showdown between the Bat and Joker. The fighting in the dark was cool but a bit rushed.....then again Nolan isn't the best when it comes to directing fight sequences.

Flashy???

You must be smoking heroin. Batman Begins was the most realistic Batman movie to date.

You are not a Batman fan at all. When you have the comics, the merchandise and memorabilia, then i will listen to you.

Of all the bat flicks i would say 90% of TRUE bat fans would agree that both Nolan movies are the best of the series. Some would argue like me that Batman Begins takes the edge when compared to TDK (not by far though).

The remaining 10% (and i think im being generous) may decide to stay loyal to Bat '89.

Why so serious?

PSSSSSH I am a Batman fan, im just not a FANBOY! I guess over 20 years of reading the comics and owning merchandise from the original movies as well as rare issues doesnt make me a fan.

Disregarding my views as im not a fan to you is stupid and arrogant.

Yea course you are my love..... 20 years my a**.

I bet you thought Batman and Robin was one of the best Batman flicks too right?? lol

One thing i would change about TDK is Bales intimidating voice as Batman...... Keaton had that down to the pound.

Did you also think the Jokers real name was Jack Napier??? Shutup and move on. The 89 flick didn't stay AS true to the comics like BB and TDK did.

No Batman and Robin was in quite a few ways gay, I was talking about the dark setting, sure both versions are dark but the 89 version felt like a comic story, its not supposed to be realistic.

I am a big fan of DC comics, I go on the DC comics forums regular, I have read many of the big crossovers like Worlds Collide, Dc vs Marvel, have EVERY issue of Superboy, Young Justice, JSA, Supergirl and many Batman ones(like Knightfall)

I have thousands of comics in my collection including rare ones.

excellent film except from batman performance. Joker brought it from a good to an outstanding movie!

I saw the movie earlier and thought it was excellent. Definitely worthy of no.1 imdb top 250.

@ jay_zizzle, you're defending a film that doesn't need defending and making yourself sound like just another overprotective fanboy. Let people have their opinions.

Yeah its not like I said the film sucks or anything just I prefered the older versions.

My 16 year old daughter went to see this last night and loved it, she also said The Joker acted Batman off the screen.
