The Dark Knight opens in USA and boy has it made a HUGE impact!

The movie has been released in USA today and already reached 4th place on the "all time IMDB Top 250 movies" list!!

Well technically it has been rated 9.7/10, which is more than the #1 title - The Godfather.

Godfather has had 287,000 + votes whereas The Dark Knight has had just under 5,000 so far. So once more votes come in, this movie could take #1 spot!!!

Got my IMAX tickets for Manchester.

Bring on July 24th!!!

The marketing people deserve an award of their own for the amount of hype they've generated for this film!

Killing one of the main cast is a bit extreme, but hey if it works.

How high would it have been if one if its actors wouldn't have died earlier this year? Probably not even hitting the top 500!

Ive watched loads fo trailers and just read the reviews by people.

Read the critic reviews - loads have said that the movie was too hyped up and were contemplating how they would come out and nitpick the flaws.

Well 105 official critics so far have said that they didnt have to - the movie simply pwned. It lived up to the hype plus more. Only 4 or 5 have given this 3/5 stars.

Allegedly this is the best all time comic book movie ever and currently the best this year. If anything can beat the record set by Titanic, this has a chance.

I seriously have got ants in my pants - i cant wait.

If you are going to watch it - do so on IMAX. This is the first theatrical movie in the world to use the IMAX cameras. They only use them in 6 segments but the resolution is meant to be astounding.

Damnit

I hope it lives up to the hype, every other batman film has been so over hyped, it was disapointing to see the films. Although Jack will always be the definitive Joker for me.

Don't agree with that at all. It's only been once aspect of a huuuuuge campaign.

Dude if anything has made The Dark Knight uber awesome - it is the portrayal of The Joker.

Heath Ledger has allegedly lost him self in the role and the performace is phenomenal.

I love Jack i really do but the Joker by Jack was a vision of Tim Burton - Qwerky, Funny, Campy and Serious.

The role by heath is back to basics (comic book) - dark, psychotic, humourous (only to him).

I haven't seen it but if everyone is saying this dude deserves an oscar, i can safely presume that Jack's joker is done and dusted

That's is not true.

The movie was marketed extremely well. I cant tell you now it's was the best viral marketed film to date.

Warner Bros. set up many sites online (when heath weas alive) and made people break/crack codes, puzzles etc that led them to cinemas all over the US where they were treated to the trailer or clip or free IMAX tickets for a midnight showing 2 days before.

The movie picked up so much heat with www.whysoserious.com

So the death of Ledget will affect lots of people and it will prob get them paying out for a ticket but the movie is supposed to be the best comic book ever made and im +ve it wasn't because of Heaths passing.

Look what it has done -

1. First movie to use IMAX cameras in 6 segments
2. First movie to take real advantage of viral marketing
3. Batman Begins already took the title as the Best Batman flick ever. Not many people were interested in BB at the time because the movies by shumacher and co were utter ****. But BB slowly gained the level of respect it deserved and made people believe that the new director and cast have set a great standard. That being said, more people will be interested in this flick

Best viral marketting campaign to date is without a doubt Coverfield.

The premier world and UK was on every news station and everyone mentioned Ledgers passing.

It is naive to believe that people are not watching this without that thought and are bigging it up for this reason. The film could be a very good film - I haven't seen it so i'm not passing judgement but for 5000 to vote it the best film of all time (which is some statement) suggests that there are some people who are voting for more than just the film...

Ledgers death would also undoubtably increase taking as the media is stating what a good performance it is and it is basically there last chance to see him on the big screen.

I'd even be extremely surprised if all 5000 of those voters had actually seen the film...

Blair Witch was one of the first to really take advantage of viral marketing, esp from a cost of production to gross standpoint

Yup and the thing I hate is that if you look on imdb there will be some people who gave it 10/10

Looking now its 3,672 people i mean wtf

I think people either need to expand there film collection to some classics such Pulp Fiction and Godfather to name but two.

I no longer go by IMDB ratings, I've seen far too many movies rated highly that were absolute carp and some low rated movies that were far better.

Agreed.

Its a sad state of affairs when people rely on others to tell them what they should watch.

Here's a good review on YouTube.

Dont get me wrong I cant wait to see Dark Knight, but 9.7 means **** on IMDB.

I have been noticing over the last couple of years ****** films get rated stupidly high score by fanboys/girls. The rating system is broken.

Randomly I searched Dark Knight in allposters.co.uk, I would expect to see top posters being Batman (as this is who the film is based upon) but the top 5 posters are all of Heath Ledger as the joker! I think this underlyes peoples obsession with the death of celebrities.

Well I don't think it's possible to vote 0/10 which is what ET really deserves. One of the most over rated piles of poo ever.
