The bible we see today has been heavily censored by the powers that be in Christian faith. The oldest bible ever has now been translated for all to see online http://www.codexsinaiticus.org/en/

So anyone read Greek? Altavista translator is rubbish it's saying something about 7 prostitutes and Jesus.

The Codex Sinaiticus was actually a corrupted text, I have a copy translated into English (what actually is available of it). Though it is the oldest available text, it does not mean that it is the most reliable. Just like today, the translators had an agenda for their work, much in the same way as the JW version of the Bible is corrupt translation to fit in with their weird doctrines.
The Majority Text (Textus Receptus) is the most reliable translation because it agrees fully with the scroll fragments found over the centuries.

"The Sinaiticus is a manuscript that was found in 1844 in a trash pile in St.Catherine's Monastery near Mt. Sinai, by a man named Mr Tischendorf. It contains nearly all of the New Testament plus it adds the 'Shepherd of Hermes' and the 'Epistle of Barnabas' to the New Testament. The Sinaiticus isextremely unreliable, proven by examining the manuscript itself. John Burgon spent years examining every available manuscript of the New Testament. He writes about Sinaiticus...'On many occasions 10, 20, 30, 40 words are dropped through very carelessness. Letters, words or even whole sentences are frequently written twice over, or begun and immediately cancelled; while that gross blunder, whereby a clause is omitted because it happens to end in the same words as the clause preceding, occurs no less than 115 times in the New Testament.

Just found this quote from my copy:

"The Codex Sinaiticus has been corrected by so many hands that it affords a most interesting and intricate problem to the palaeographer who wishes to disentangle the various stages by which it has reached its present condition…." (Codex Sinaiticus - New Testament volume; page 17 of the introduction).

They know it is corrupt!:)

It is mostly fiction anyhow with a few natty stories with some truth thrown in which will have been altered many times by many people. A good way to control the masses:whistling:

Though I disagree with your concept, cannot the same thing be said of the of all religious and political isms too? Whatever you might believe, you are being controlled by someone or some organisation.

BTW. I am not going to get involved in a religious debate here. It just degrades into a slanging match anway.

Yeah I agree with that also. All means of control but different means. The modern ways do not seem to work as well as the old ones though. We are not so scared of them like they were of being struck down or being destined for hell.

I don't know about that ... pretty scary when you think of the mad governments of this world who are trigger happy.

LOL.

I read the book first - I mean the D'vinci Code. Thought it was a very sloppy novel when it came to known history. I suppose it gets people talking and asking questions though.

i dont think we are controlled hon... but there is an attempt at control.

we function within and beside of corrupt social powers and dogmas... but we aren't controlled unless we accept the current dominations and allow ourselves to be shaped and formed by others ideals.

The problem with religions is that the people who are willing to believe in an invisible force/man who loves us won't be convinced by 'evidence' that the bible might be wrong/corrupt in some way.

It's a sad thing that we seem to be regressing as a species to a more unenlightened way.

6. Thou shalt not kill.

7. Thou shalt not commit adultery.

8. Thou shalt not steal.

9. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.

10. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor anything that is thy neighbor's.

Agreed, so murders, thieves and adulterers are blazing a new path for human kind I might join them :whistling:

Silly :giggle:

That's not control.. that's the development of moral understanding and an ethical conscience.

So what happened to the Homo erectus and Homo neanderthalensis? We the homo sapiens most likely wiped them out with our murderous ways and basic instinct to kill the weak :viking: Only the fittest survive muhahaha

Even Darwin didn't have a clue as to his "missing link".

We're homo sapiens sapiens, ( double intentional ) and despite being at times self-destructive and thanatoic, I don't believe we have a "Basic instinct to kill the weak" in fact many of us would be driven to nurture those who are weaker than ourselves.
