I returned a dvd boxset which i received damaged so i returned like a month ago and ive been refunded the return postage cost but yet they say they havent received the item back .

how can that happen ?

any advice on where i stand on the matter?

Did you send it recorded delivery, or obtain a proof of postage when you returned it?

I have had to send 2 films back to thehut and they recieved them no problems but the second time it took about 3 weeks for them to get the film, they have a freepost address that they should have told you to use and all you would have needed was a reciept from the post office. If they say they didnt get the films back and you have no proof of postage then they will probably say its your own fault.

but with freepost you dont need post office you just chuck in the postbox, so you would not get a pop.

You do, you take it to the post office and hand it over and say can I have proof that I posted. Its what thehut told me to do and I done it twice with no problems.

I am sorry that you have received your order faulty.
Please return this to us via the freepost address below and we will be happy to send you a replacement or refund.

If you could also include a brief covering letter, clearly stating your order number, the reason for return and whether a replacement or refund is required.

Please could you also include your unique returns authorisation number:XXXXX
without this we will not be able to complete your return and this may result in the item being sent back to you.

When returning your item please obtain a proof of postage which is provided free of charge from your local post office. This covers your item on its return to us.

We cannot exchange for an alternative item, we can only do a straight swap.

If you have ordered the item incorrectly we can arrange a refund.

Once you have sent it please allow at least 10 working days for the item to be returned back to us.

Once we have received the item your request will be processed and you will receive a confirmation email to advise you when this has been done.

I had the same thing when I had to return a damaged dvd I had a COP and just faxed it to them and a new item was dispatched next day.

I've not any problems with thehut and I use them all the time. Have you tried calling them to find out what's going on?

@killerbee looking at your past comments, you have been unlucky with having to return so much over the last couple of months. I have only (touch wood) had to return one item that I've bought from the internet.
